Overwatch has been blamed by adult website YouPorn for a near-10 percent drop in traffic last week, which just so happened to coincide with the Blizzard shooter’s League event.
YouPorn provided a detailed graph showcasing a noticeable dip in traffic during the first broadcast, specifically the nail-biting ruck between Los Angeles Valiant and San Francisco Shock where figures fell by 9 percent. What’s more, traffic didn’t normalise for seven hours after the first broadcast.
Overwatch League’s second day saw Philadelphia Fusion emerging victorious over Houston Outlaws, with traffic down yet again, albeit slightly lower than the previous day. However, YouPorn’s site numbers stabilized after the third game wrapped.
Still, the drop in traffic obviously mattered enough for the site to issue a statement, where it noted it’s looking forward to seeing the first Overwatch League Champion crowned. ‘Of course, we are also curious to see how you will celebrate and will be keeping an eye on visits to the site before, during, and after,’ added YouPorn, apparently indicating we’re all a bunch of wankers.
It’s probably unsurprising that folk found other ways to entertain themselves other than YouPorn during the Overwatch League, as the event managed to attract over 10 million viewers across the four-day marathon.
