It has been about 10 months since Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise first burst onto the scene as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Boasting familiar and new, impressive monsters to conquer, expanded movement with the Palamutes and Wirebug, and eventually getting a proper ending, the game has most certainly grown since release. Now, with Monster Hunter Rise finally arriving on PC, just what can players expect other than a shinier version of the game?...

Capcom is determined to bring the Resident Evil games to every video game platform imaginable. This Halloween season, it’s expanding the Nintendo Switch’s Resident Evil library with the addition of Resident Evil 5 and 6, which are coming to the Switch on October 29. Capcom has released demos for Resident Evil 5 and 6 ahead of the games’ launch on the Nintendo Switch, but they have left fans concerned about the games’ performance....

Oftentimes, gamers on the internet are very capable of making hilarious and ridiculous art, parodying the game or inserting parodied entities into the game. Resident Evil and Popeyes were the subjects of recent fan art depicting a Resident Evil 4 character selling Popeyes food. In some fan art from Twitter user BossLogic, Resident Evil, one of the scariest horror franchises of all-time, was crossed with the Popeyes fast-food chain to create a resonating depiction of a shady salesman selling Popeyes chicken sandwiches....

As promised, Capcom revealed a bunch of new stuff for the upcoming Resident Evil Village during its latest Resident Evil Showcase event last night, including a new trailer, details of a demo and the return of the series’ classic Mercenaries mode. Carrion, the reverse horror game from Phobia Game Studio, has sold more than 200,000 copies since its launch last week. The game has also been played by “hundreds of thousands of players” on Xbox Game Pass, to the delight of the developer. To celebrate, publisher Devolver Digital has released a “Behind the Screams” video with the creature from Carrion, which is a bit bizarre but very on brand for Devolver. In the game, the player controls this red blob of… something which escapes its confines in a research facility....

It seems safe to say that anticipation is at an all time high for the likely forthcoming Resident Evil 3 Remake after cover art for it leaked online, yet what differentiates it from Resident Evil 2 Remake hype is that the latter has already released. Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 garnered universal acclaim following its release, and it has even been nominated for Game of the Year at this year’s Game Awards ceremony....

Platinum Games has released Angel Land, a basic 8-bit bullet hell browser game based on Bayonetta. Scalebound creative producer P Kellams tweeted a link to the game, but you’ll find it on any of the developer’s website’s 404 pages. Angel Land is pretty simple stuff, with space jumping and enter shooting. You’ll also need to double jump to reach the enemies coming at you across the top of the screen....

The fun modding of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues apace. First we had the GTA San Andreas mod that dropped C.J. into Hyrule, and now we’re seeing a brace of more family friendly Link replacements. There’s a great one that turns Link into Woody from Toy Story, which is pretty cute, and kind of fits in with Breath of the Wild’s hyper-colourful aesthetic. There’s also one that turns the Steel Lizal shield into Spongebob Squarepants, just without his arms and legs (although, now I think about it, that could actually be quite horrible: Spongebob, his face trapped in a rictus grin, used to slide down the side of mountains, to deflect arrows and axes, whispers between gritted teeth: ‘Help… me…’)...

If you have an affinity toward strategy games, then Europa Universalis IV may interest you if you haven’t tried it already. But those invested in the game enough to purchase DLC found it rather expansive all things considered. Publisher Paradox Interactive recognized this issue, allowing Steam players to try out a Europa Universalis IV DLC subscription service in March last year. You had to purchase it through the game back then, but now you have to do it directly through Steam....

Developer Krafton has revealed a series of updates it plans to bring to multiplayer battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds over the next few months, including two new maps and a rework of a familiar one. First up and most imminently in early June will be a visual overhaul for the Miramar map, giving one of the game’s oldest locales a refresh to bring it more inline with the current maps, including reworking the lighting, performance, graphical fidelity and topography....

Sony’s ‘The Future of Gaming’ event, which focuses titles for the PlayStation 5, has been scheduled for June 11. It would have happened last week, but, Sony elected to postpone the event in order to “stand back and allow more important voices to be heard” in the wake of the police brutality protests. Sony thanked the community for their patience and understanding, and reiterated that it is a “historic and important” time for social justice....

While the PlayStation 5 could possibly debut in 2020, it won’t be coming at any point during the next 12 months. Sony Interactive Entertainment moved to reveal hardware specs for the upcoming next-gen console, also confirming it’s backward compatibility, improved audio and resolution support, as well as several other features. The revelations naturally led to questions over the timeframe for the device’s release; however, the company stopped short of announcing a release date....

Sony has announced an official name and an array of technical details for its upcoming, under-wraps PlayStation VR successor for PlayStation 5. PlayStation VR2, as it’s now officially known, will boast 4K HDR OLED panels, offering a 110-degree field of view. These panels will have a resolution of 2000x2040 per eye, and frame rates of 90/120Hz. You’ll interact with games using the previously-revealed PlayStation 5 VR controllers - now officially branded the PlayStation VR2 Sense....
