Rocket Panda Games released a new gameplay trailer of the upcoming 2D fighting game Phantom Breaker: Omnia introducing one of the playable characters. To be specific, we get to see the military-style uniform-clad Shizuka, who appears to be rather adept with her sabre. This follows a string of more character trailers of which one featuring Mikoto, one showcasing Itsuki herself, one featuring Waka, one starring Yuzuha, one showcasing Ren, one focusing on Ria, one revealing Maestra and Artifactor, and one focusing on Sophia....

Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer feels optimistic about the future of the video game industry after the pandemic, even though delays will be felt into 2021 (via Destructoid). Speaking to Business Insider, he said that he “feel[s] pretty good” about the games to launch in the latter half of 2020. “Games that were targeting a year from now or beyond? There’ll be some impact, but they’ll be able to react,” qualified Spencer....

Players have already translated the runic language in Tunic. Throughout the game, instructions from characters, signposts, and the in-game manual are written in a made-up runic language. Players aren’t required to translate it; instead it adds an air of mystery to the foxy adventure and forces players to analyse visual clues instead. However, some eager players have begun diligently translating the runes, including Reddit user oposdeo. Oposdeo, who works as a programmer not a linguist, has only beaten a couple of bosses in the game so far, but has managed to ascertain vowels, consonants, and grammar structure of the fictional language....

PlayStation has announced the next four games added to the PlayStation Now service for the month of November 2021. First up this month is criminal remaster Mafia: Definitive Edition. More than just throwing on new textures, this remake brings the game a far more thorough going over. Though we technically have yet to hear anything official from Sony regarding its next-generation gaming machine, we’re pretty confident that, after four successive PlayStation consoles, the PlayStation 5 isn’t about to shake anything up in terms of branding. The highly-anticipated Pokemon-like MMO Temtem has officially launched in Early Access. As befits an Early Access game, however, Temtem’s launch hasn’t exactly been smooth. Temtem players have reported a wide range of technical issues with the game that have prevented many players from even playing the game despite their best efforts. Temtem’s developers have acknowledged the ongoing issues and are currently working to fix them. Microsoft has announced that pre-loading is coming to Xbox Game Pass, and will start with the highly anticipated Crackdown 3 on Windows and Xbox One. The news was confirmed on Twitter by Xbox’s corporate vice president, Mike Ybarra, who also revealed that Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will take advantage of the feature. Project Winter, the co-op survival sim with a twist, left Early Access on Steam back in May 2019. However, the game is moving away from being a PC exclusive, while also benefitting the players who have owned it up to this point. The PlayStation 4 will be getting a new multiplayer shooter in the form of an exclusive title called Holfraine next month. The game, developed by Spanish studio Fluxart at the PlayStation Games Camp in Valencia, will become available for download from the PlayStation Store on March 3. Holfraine will see players team up in threes, similarly to EA and Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends, handing them six unique heroes to choose from....

Development of the PlayStation 5 and its DualShock 5 controller continues to move forward and as a result, many details are leaking to the public. Yet another patent related to the DualShock 5 controller has revealed a previously unknown, but interesting feature. Specifically, it relates to the Dualshock 5’s upgraded haptic feedback system, developer customization, and how in the PS5-era users will have deeper control over controller vibrations, too. The patent in question details the DualShock 5’s “vibration control apparatus,” which is the hardware within the controller that manages its vibration levels....

Developer TeamKill Media has revealed that forthcoming cosmic horror FPS Quantum Error will indeed be releasing for Xbox Series S/X in addition to its previously announced PS4 and PlayStation 5 release. Announcing the news alongside a new trailer, the game’s official Twitter account clarified that the team staggered the announcement of the game’s forthcoming formats not for any assumed marketing reasons, but rather only confirmed their PlayStation version first as their previous game only released on PlayStation 4 due to performance issues....
