Bethesda announced during The Game Awards in the wee hours of this morning that Rage 2 will launch on May 14, 2019 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The Resident Evil 3 remake is coming in just four months time, and if the Resident Evil 2 remake is any indication, it will likely be a mostly faithful recreation with some minor changes. It’s a safe bet that virtually all of the major characters will be returning for the new game, though it’s less clear if some of the minor characters will be making an appearance. The full Resident Evil 3 remake cast has yet to be revealed, but Capcom has since confirmed at least one returning minor character....

Capcom has revealed on its website that Resident Evil 7 has now shipped over 4 million copies, which isn’t too bad. But it’s still some way below Capcom’s sales forecast for the survival horror. Resi 7 had shipped 3.5 million copies at the end of April 2017, and at the time Capcom said it was a ‘solid start’ even though it’d fallen short of the 4 million target. The aim is for Resi 7 to shift another 2 million copies by the end of March 31, 2018, and so far it’s managed to sell 500k of that goal....

The long-rumored Resident Evil Village was officially announced by Capcom during June’s PlayStation 5 reveal event. The game is a return to the first-person horror that brought so much success to Resident Evil 7, the installment that’s credited with restoring the series’ place as a staple of the survival horror genre. “The return of a first-person perspective will bring a visceral edge to combat,” said Capcom associate manager of social media and community Kellen Haney in a PlayStation blog post....

Ubisoft has detailed what fans can expect in Year One of content for upcoming extreme sports game Riders Republic. There’ll be a total of four major seasons of free and paid content in the game’s first year, kicking off with a special pre-season event called The Grand Opening. Expect several multiplayer modes including Mass Race, Tricks Battle, Free for All and Versus. There’ll also be exclusive rewards that will unlock unique cosmetics....

Eagle-eyed Reddit user u/FrozenFroh spotted a suspiciously upbeat bit of NPC dialog in the latest promotional video for Overwatch 2. The video was released this weekend at Blizzcon, the annual celebration of games made by Blizzard Entertainment, and focuses on the upcoming game’s ‘Push’ PvP mode. In the video, a fairly generic robot NPC utters the following, “Who’s ready to push? I am.” The dialog, but not the delivery, is very similar to the combat bark, “Who’s ready to fly on a zipline?...

Both Overwatch and Diablo might become animated series on Netflix, according to a new report. Who wants to see an Overwatch animated series? Or how about Diablo on Netflix in the same style as Castlevania? These seem like surefire hits, which might be why they’re currently in development. That’s according to the LinkedIn profile of Nick van Dyk, co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios. Gamespot first reported that the bigshot at Blizzard’s LinkedIn profile has a lot of very interesting things to say about two new TV series based on Blizzard’s classic action RPG and arena hero shooter....

Although Overwatch 2 was one of the headlining games at BlizzCon 19 earlier this month, Blizzard isn’t yet done with its predecessor. Michael Chu, the lead writer on Overwatch, has released a brand new short story that focuses on Angela ‘Mercy’ Ziegler and her origin story. However, many have begun to suspect that this latest story may also be hinting at upcoming content for the game. Chu’s newest Overwatch short story called Valkyrie focuses on the event in Egypt that brought Angela Ziegler, Ana Amari, and Soldier: 76 back together following the downfall of their team....

Overkill Software has given an update on the progress of Payday 2 for the Nintendo Switch, and also showed off some footage of the game in action in a newly released video. Payday 2 was originally announced for the Switch back in April with a release date planned for ‘this winter’, and since then it had all gone quiet leading some people to wonder when, or if, it’s actually coming to the hybrid console....

Before, it was Cyberpunk 2077, which I foolishly included in my 2018 article. “Delays have their way of humbling a person,” I thought as I cautiously added it to my list in 2019.
