Rockstar is adding something called Gun Rush to Red Dead Online’s already-meaty roster of game modes, according to a Reddit poster (via VG247). The user snapped a picture of Gun Rush appearing on the game’s menu, although it quickly disappeared. Still, the image pretty much speaks for itself. People are already speculating that it could be similar to Kill Quota from GTA Online, which sees your firepower steadily decreasing as the match progresses....

Sobaka Studio has ported Redeemer: Enhanced Edition to the Nintendo Switch, bringing the same bonus content seen on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Blizzard has announced an end date for the sale of Overwatch loot boxes - after one final in-game loot box event to sell lots of them beforehand. The option to buy loot boxes will be removed from Overwatch at the end of the game’s current Anniversary Remix event, which wraps up on 30th August. In a blog post on the event, Blizzard noted that its loot boxes have a chance to contain rare items from previous Anniversary and seasonal events, and told fans not to “wait too long to snag those skins you’ve been eyeing for the past year”....

Payday developer Starbreeze is set to shut down mobile game Payday: Crime War next month, after which it will be relaunched by a new publisher. The struggling studio is still afloat amid serious financial woes and has announced that a PayDay 3 is still in the works, with a soft 2023 deadline set. But, as of November 12, Crime War has seen in-app purchases disabled, while the game is set for a complete shutdown on December 16th....

EA has announced start dates for three of its upcoming EA Access trials. Lovable platformer Unravel is up first from February 4, with Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 following two weeks later on February 18. A trial of UFC 2 will then be available on March 10. All three games are due to release in full between five and seven days later. Previous EA Access trials have offered 10 hours unrestricted access to the final game, although EA has yet to confirm specific details on the trials for any of the three upcoming games....

Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 is the company’s fastest selling console, clocking up sales of 10 million consoles as of July 18, 2021. As per GamesIndustry.biz, the company reached the milestone figure just a few weeks faster than the same one for the PlayStation 4. The news comes not long after Microsoft boasted of the Xbox Series X|S also being that company’s fastest selling console. Games of course also gave Sony big numbers, with Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales shifting over 6....

A new report claims that the upcoming next-generation PlayStation VR headset will offer a significantly improved display resolution compared to its predecessor, with 4K support. That’s according to anonymous sources who apparently spoke to Upload VR on the new headset, where they claimed the new hardware would be able to display an image of 4000×2040 pixels or 2000×2040 per eye, and speculates that the device could also include support for gaze tracking and something called ‘foveated rendering’ where the device tracks your eye movement to dedicate more resources to making the image look good in the location you’re currently looking in....

Pokémon fans are riotous over the recently announced cuts to Sword and Shield. The game’s next canon installments have drastically downsized the national pokédex, dropping many timeless favorites like Dragonite and Mewtwo. Pokémon Go maker Niantic has announced details of the game’s big European summer meetup, which is set to take place this year in Berlin.
