At long last, nWay’s tag battle fighter Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is available on PC. Purchasable from Steam for $19.99, this port will include only the base game and its free additional fighters. Season one will need to be purchased separately for $14.99 or in a “Collector’s Edition” pack for $39.99. While a bummer, players will still be able to jump into the fray against players on Xbox One and Switch via the game’s cross-platform multiplayer....
Illfonic’s follow-up to Friday the 13th, Predator: Hunting Grounds, launched on PC via the Epic Games Store earlier this year. Hunting Grounds took the Predator license and turned into an asymmetric multiplayer game. In matches, its Predator vs prey, who are made up of a 4-person fireteam. Since the game’s rocky launch, Illfonic has updated the game each month with updates, patches and paid DLC. Another big one, update 2.0, launches in a few days on August 21 and brings cross-play along for the ride....
Ubisoft has unveiled the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, which is scheduled for release on January 21, 2001, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. To judge from the trailer that aired during the Ubisoft Forward event, this is a ground-up remake, and boasts the prince’s original voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal. Among Trees, the radiant survival sandbox game, will be entering Early Access through the Epic Games Store this summer (via Gematsu). FJRD Interactive is a team of three developers who have been working on Among Trees for almost two years. Set in a vibrant wilderness populated with flora and fauna of all sorts, the player will carve out a life for themselves. Their cabin is their home, and is a safe haven from the predators who reign over the forest, the blizzards that chill to the bone, and things that go bump in the night....

Sales of both Playstation 4 and Xbox One are declining “sharper than expected” in the US, most likely due to this year’s upcoming next gen console launch, among other factors. However, not all consoles are being dragged down: Nintendo Switch sales remain relatively steady, especially compared to the other two. Data published by industry-tracking firm The NPD Group shows that the sales of Playstation 4 and Xbox One in January 2020 were significantly lower than the sales of Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in January 2013, when the last console generation was coming to its end....
Chicken dinner-giving shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will receive its hotly anticipated third map, Sanhok, on June 22. Developer PUBG Corp. confirmed the news in a post on Twitter, where it revealed Sanhok will drop as part of PUBG Update 15. Sanhok has been doing the rounds in the test servers over the past few weeks, although Update 15 will see the map receive a full-blown launch. This applies to the PC version of the game only, with the Xbox One edition of the battle royale game lagging behind....
Quake Champions is getting an update on 14 December which adds a new playable character, new map, and festive cheer. Keel is returning, brought back to fighting health after his efforts in Quake 3 Arena and Quake Live. Those who own the full ‘champions pack’ version of Quake Champions will get him for free. Everybody else can purchase him using ‘platinum’ in the store. Keel has a Grenade Swarm active ability, which is exactly what it sounds like....
After four years, we may have another Quake game on the horizon. After publisher Bethesda posted the schedule for the upcoming QuakeCon, folks noticed something interesting about the “Let’s talk Quake” segment happening on August 20. Clicking on the morning segment brought up a description that mentioned a “revitalized edition” of Quake. The reference was spotted by XboxEra late last night. Bethesda has since removed the mention of a revitalized Quake, with the text now reading: “Quake is back, in this special stream John Linneman from Digital Foundry talks to Jerk Gustafsson of MachineGames about the title’s iconic legacy and what it meant to both of them....
Ubisoft has detailed plans for year seven(!) of multiplayer shooter Rainbow Six Siege, including a roadmap for the next twelve months. Once more, there’ll be four seasons, each headed by a new operator with the first entitled Demon Veil. Japanese operator Azami heads up the season, equipped with grenades that solidify into barriers. The season also brings along Attacker Repick, allowing players to change Operator in the Preparation Phase. Elsewhere, the Demon Veil season includes a permanent Team Deathmatch mode, and Match Replay for console players....
Ubisoft has announced the latest addition to Rainbow Six Siege’s rapidly-swelling Operator lineup, with Alibi joining the ranks for the impending Operation Para Bellum update. According to the official blurb, Alibi is a Defender inspired by the Raggruppamento Operativo Speciale unit from Italy, and is described as a ‘cunning woman’ who is skilled at penetrating the dense networks of ‘organized crime.’ ‘This Defender is all about finding clever ways to force the Attackers’ hands....

UPDATE 23/6/22 6:10pm: We’ve now had the chance to complete the set, running the rule over the current generation console upgrades to Resident Evil 7 - the first game to use Capcom’s excellent RE Engine. Perhaps inevitably, there’s a great deal of commonality between RE7 and the remakes, with the same fundamental upgrades in place. There are high frame-rate and ray tracing toggles, offering three different performance modes: 60fps with or without RT in play, along with a 120Hz mode that only works with ray tracing disabled....
