While gamers still need to wait another month and a half before being able to play Red Faction: Armageddon, the downloadable arcade tie-in is now available to play. Titled Red Faction: Battlegrounds, THQ’s latest release is available on XBLA and PSN. Red Faction: Battlegrounds lets players jump into a variety of vehicles and in Demolition Derby style, can use both sticks on the controller to drive around, destroying the opposition - this time, with more guns and explosions....
Capcom revealed the Resident Evil 2 Remake sales figures, confirming that the remake of the horror game has sold better than the original release. The company had said that the “favorable” growth of the game’s sales were down to Resident Evil 2 Remake reviews which were incredibly positive. In a press release sent out today, Capcom confirmed that the Resident Evil 2 Remake has sold more than five million copies as of December 4, 2019....
When the initial trailer for Resident Evil 3 dropped, fans were shown a small glimpse of what was to be expected from the game such as upgraded visuals and character redesigns. However, since the trailer’s debut, the developers have been giving interviews and other bits of information in order to provide more insight. Square Enix has released a new trailer that has revealed the latest DLC character in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The next addition to the cast will be Rinoa Heartily from Final Fantasy VIII, the leader of Forest Owls and the one true love of Squall Leonhart’s. Rinoa is a long-range fighter, who relies on her wrist-mounted slingshot (known as a Blaster Edge) to fire blasts of energy at the enemy, as well as spells and other special attacks....
The Advertising Standards Authority has reprimanded former England star and football pundit Rio Ferdinand for failing to properly disclose that a series of Twitter posts made in partnership with PlayStation were advertisements. After a long, agonizing period of silence, Blizzard is finally ready to show the upcoming Overwatch 2 to the public. The game will at last be playable in beta form in late April. Everyone can sign up to play it, and, thankfully, if you have a rig that’s less than a decade old, you should be able to experience it if you nab the golden ticket. The PC requirements for the Overwatch 2 beta are live, and aren’t too demanding....
Blizzard has dropped one of the first major patches for Overwatch 2 since it launched a couple of weeks ago. The update – v3.38 – arrived last week, and includes a number of bug fixes and smaller tweaks – though there’s not been huge changes just yet. The update also, it seems, does not bring back Bastion yet – who was removed alongside Torbjorn last week following the discovery of a bug that allowed players to spam his Ultimate ability....
While all the talk about Overwatch lately has been focused on the upcoming Overwatch 2, Blizzard is still providing plenty of support for the original iteration of its hero-shooter. It has no plans to stop running Competitive Play seasons in the original game any time soon, though upcoming ones will come with some pretty drastic changes to the formula. It’s been confirmed by Blizzard that Overwatch Season 19 will consist of 12 out of the 21 maps that are currently in the game....
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Or at least the holiday season for Overwatch, and Blizzard has announced that once again it’s bringing back its holiday themed additions to the game. All the stuff from last year will be returning including Mei’s Snowball Fight, but there’s also some new additions including new skins for Hanzo and a spruced up version of the Black Forest arena map to join last year’s Kings Row and Hanamura holiday maps....
There’s a new Overwatch lore story that suggests Soldier 76 once had a boyfriend named Vincent. The story, titled “Bastet,” includes a scene in which Ana and Soldier 76 (one of the best characters for new players, btw) take a moment to reminisce. Ana spots a photo of a much-younger Soldier 76 with his arm around a man she identifies as Vincent. While her interaction with Solider 76 (real name John Francis “Jack” Morrison) doesn’t spell out what the relationship between John and Vincent was, it is strongly implied that they were lovers at one point....
One of the more prominent booths on PAX East’s exhibition floor this year was the one showcasing Ubisoft’s Child of Eden – the psychotropic audio/visual extravaganza for Kinect. If you didn’t already know, Child of Eden is the latest title from Tetsuya Mizuguchi – the man behind Rez, Lumines and Space Channel 5. If you are at all familiar with Rez, or indeed Rez HD, you’ll be right at home with Child of Eden....
I played Fable 2 when it first released back in 2008, and I was mostly impressed. The original Fable was one of my favorite experiences – I thought it took console RPGs in a new and interesting direction. Unfortunately, mostly impressed wasn’t enough for me to really give Fable 2 much of my time, and as soon as I beat it, I never really looked back. Phil Spencer has admitted Microsoft has shipped games “too early”. Speaking to The Verge, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming was asked about the decision to delay Starfield and Redfall, two of the company’s biggest upcoming exclusives. “It isn’t really a decision to move a game after spending the team’s effort over multiple years just to get to a point where you know you’re not going to deliver the game you want on the date that was promised,” said Spencer....
8K display support may still be AWOL but Sony surprised us all last week by revealing a new firmware beta test, opening the door to 1440p functionality for PlayStation 5 amongst a range of other smaller scale new features and quality of life upgrades. With its plans to break into the PC monitor market, adding support for 2560x1440 functionality makes sense and while the firmware beta works well, a little more work is required to ensure this update delivers everything it should....
