We also now know some of the new monsters: Smoliv, Pawmi, and, by far the most important, Lechonk. The latter is a kind of pig, and so it’s clear that these two games will likely achieve game-of-the-year status immediately upon release....

PlayStation Network will be taken offline for maintenance at 6pm next Monday, November 17 until 12am Tuesday, November 18, Sony has announced. [UPDATE: The maintenance has been brought forward by one hour, Sony has said, and will now take place between 5pm GMT and 11pm GMT on Monday, November 17.] PlayStation owners will be unable to log in to Account Management, PS Home or the PlayStation Store during this time. The anime series Psycho-Pass is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and a special event was held to announce future projects. Among those upcoming projects is a film that presumably takes place after the end of the series, Psycho-Pass Providence. Production I.G., who produced the original series, will be the studio crafting the new film. Psycho-Pass director Naoyoshi Shiotani will also return to direct this movie, proving that it is undoubtedly in good hands....

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a closed beta test on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year, Ubisoft has confirmed to VideoGamer.com. Rumours of the beta first emerged after a leaked marketing poster at GameStop surfaced online. But Ubisoft has since confirmed that the closed beta is coming later this year, with those who pre-order the game guaranteed access. “Yes, you can now pre-order Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege to get access to the Closed Beta later on this year,” Ubisoft said in a statement provided to VideoGamer....

Rockstar Games is celebrating Valentine’s Day in the newest update to Red Dead Online, which includes experience point boosts, the Lovers Collection, and new outfits (via Rockstar Games). Firstly, Specialists will benefit from a 40 per cent increase in experience point generation over the course of this week. Red Dead Redemption 2’s online component, Red Dead Online, may have been around since not long after launch of the game, but officially it’s been in beta. Not for much longer. Speaking during Take Two’s latest earnings’ call as transcribed by Seeking Alpha (and spotted by Eurogamer) CEO Strauss Zenick fielded questions on the game, saying specifically that ‘Rockstar has said that Red Dead Online will be coming out of beta in the current quarter....

During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, fans got to see the very first gameplay trailer of the anticipated Return to Monkey Island. Although the trailer led to some divisiveness amongst fans due to the game’s new art style, it otherwise showed a great deal of promise. But as it turns out, Return to Monkey Island might just be the last game the series will ever see....

Night School Studios, the studio behind the rather wonderful Oxenfree, has announced their next game. Entitled Afterparty, it’s an adventure game that will see you get in a drinking contest with Satan himself. In an exclusive reveal with IGN, the developer gave a few more details of what to expect. Paying as best friends Lola and Milo, who find themselves unfortunately dying at the start of the game, only to end up in a sort of processing area for Hell having no idea what they’ve done wrong to end up there....

Sony has warned PlayStation 5 owners that Persona 5 is being removed from its PlayStation Plus Collection on 11th May. Surprise! Peter Molyneux has a new game out – although it currently only appears to be available in the Philippines. Developed by Molyneux’s studio 22cans (and spotted by Kotaku), The Trail appears to be a mobile third-person adventure game in which players guide an avatar across a series of landscapes collecting, crafting and trading items, before settling in a town and building their home. We don’t actually know all that much about it, though – Molyneux briefly mentioned that he was working on it back in 2014, but has never gone into too much detail....
