Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 has chalked up another milestone, this time surpassing Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’s sales on Steam. The zombie-splattering title, which completely revamps the original 1998 PlayStation classic, has now shifted one million copies (or to be more accurate, has one million owners; cheers, PCGamesN) on Valve’s platform. By comparison, Resident Evil 7 has yet to eclipse the one million milestone. Rime, the beautiful cel-shaded single-player puzzle adventure game, will now release in May on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, developer Tequila Works has announced via an IGN First. Blizzard has announced that Overwatch has now surpassed 35 million players, and it thanked its ‘bunch of misfits and freaks’ as it celebrated the frankly ridiculous player count. Overwatch has been growing at a fairly steady clip, and this most recent milestone is a testament to the game’s continuing popularity. It was only announced last August that the game had reached a whopping 15 million players, and followed this up with a not to be scoffed at 25 million by January of this year....

A new Overwatch short story titled Valkyrie was recently released, focusing on the character of Mercy in a time after the Overwatch team has been discredited and disbanded. While cancellations are far from a rarity in the world of video games, PlatinumGames’ Scalebound left a particularly bitter sting when it was canceled back in early 2017. In celebration of the newly released Stimulus Package, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the PC is offering another action packed double XP free weekend. Starting on Thursday at 4PM Pacific Time you can jump in to all of the great Modern Warfare 2 action, and if you do as Steam would like you to, purchase the game as well. The Stimulus Package doesn’t seem to be included in the free weekend, but I’m sure that’s just another sneaky way to persuade you to buy something....

Panic has announced that pre-orders for its quirky monochrome mini-console-with-a-crank Playdate will go live next month with the hardware set to ship later in the year. A new video update for the console also revealed the number of exclusive games for the first season of the unit has increased from the originally planned 12 to a whopping 24 minigames from a range of developers. Owners will now get two new games every week for twelve weeks beamed directly to their console, with “a few surprises” also promised over the course of the season....

As Pokémon continues to grow as a franchise, Game Freak has consistently pushed the boundaries of their games’ mechanics, inventing new types, abilities, and moves each generation. One of the said moves is Psyshock, a Psychic-type move introduced in Gen V, which has existed as TM03 ever since. An unconventional move similar to Psystrike, Psyshock utilizes the attacking Pokémon’s Special Attack and the opponent Pokémon’s Defense when calculating damage. However, Psychock is affected by Light Screen, as opposed to Reflect, and will activate Mirror Coat instead of Counter....

The Pokemon Company has announced that the long-rumoured remakes of 2006 GBA titles Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are real, and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl will release on Nintendo Switch later this year. Both games have been “faithfully reproduced” and you’ll be able to visit all your favourite locations given a modern makeover, including Mount Coronet, Eterna City, Pastoria City and more, and pick from starters Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup....

A lot of gamers were left scratching their heads when an electric sheep Pokémon gained the powers of a dragon in Pokémon X & Y, but it turns out the reason for the transformation was buried in its name all along. Pokémon X & Y introduced the concept of Mega Evolution to the series, which allowed a Pokémon to undergo a temporary evolution that lasted for a single battle. The power of Mega Evolution would sometimes allow a Pokémon to change type, such as Mega Charizard X becoming a Fire/Dragon-type Pokémon or Mega Pinsir becoming a Bug/Flying-type Pokémon....
