League of Legends and Valorant developer Riot Games has agreed to pay a $100 million USD settlement to end its 2018 gender discrimination lawsuit. The class action lawsuit was first brought to light in November of 2018. Several employees came forward accusing the studio of fostering a toxic workplace, including gender-based discrimination and fostering a ‘men-first environment.’ While the motion started with a couple of employees following a Kotaku report of more than 20 instances of toxic behaviour, 2000 women would eventually join the suit....

Today Atlus announced the release date for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden on modern platforms. They will both launch on January 19, 2023. It’s worth mentioning that the infographic below only mentions game pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows, while the text of the tweet goes with generic “modern platforms.” The games are also coming to PS5, PS4, Switch, and Steam, but we’ve seen before with Persona 5 Royal that those platforms have been excluded from the initial announcement likely due to marketing deals and then ended up releasing on the same day....
Today the Japanese arm of Atlus provided more information about the Xbox and PC ports of Persona 5 Royal. We learn that the game is shipping with over 40 DLC included from the get-go, while those were purchasable separately when Persona 5 Royal was originally released for PS4. As a caveat, there is no information about the PS5 and Steam versions for now, which is not too surprising considering how fragmented the reveals about these ports have been so far....
A Destiny streamer has completed Destiny’s hardest Raid, Crota’s End, without firing a single bullet. The HM05 uploaded a video which shows the final boss battle with Crota itself, in which he plays as a souped-up Warlock class. The HM05 was able to rapidly regain super, grenade and melee, and frequently switched back and forth between armour to utilise perks. PlayStation 4.5 is “real”, with prototype devices available in Sony’s Research and Development labs, Digital Foundry claims to have confirmed via numerous independent sources. Its sources also seem keen to refer to the new system as PlayStation 4K, so this could be a more likely name for the console. So what of its capabilities? Digital Foundry states that whilst some significant performance improvements could be offered over existing hardware, hitting a spec capable of delivering 4K games with the richness we see now in 1080p is a pipe dream....

The Taiwanese horror game Devotion was pulled from Steam last year after an easter egg making fun of Chinese president Xi Jinping was discovered, leading to review bombs and the game’s publisher Indievent losing its business license. Now, a year after it was first released, Devotion’s developers Red Candle Games have announced the game will be preserved by the Harvard-Yenching Institute. Quantic Dream has reportedly sued French newspaper Le Monde and website Mediapart after both outlets published reports earlier in the year about alleged poor working conditions at the Paris-based studio. Kotaku learned the news from David Cage at a press event in New York City for Detroit: Become Human last week.
