Nintendo has just wrapped up its latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, giving us some more details on the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield including some new mechanics and, crucially, a release date. The fifteen minute video, which we’ve embedded below, shows off a major new feature in the ‘Wild Area’ between cities. Unlike previous games, this turns Pokemon from its more traditional top down state to an almost Breath-of-the-Wild-like 3D roaming adventure, with changing weather conditions that also effect what Pokemon appear there....

Every generation of consoles adds certain hardware features to stand out from the competition. The upcoming next-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles are likely to have their own surprises, though up until now both Sony and Microsoft have kept their secrets well. One of those secrets, however, may have been revealed. A new rumor from an anonymous source states that both the PS5 and the next Xbox will include cameras, so as to appeal to streamers....

The next update for the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available on the game’s test server, developer PUBG Corp. has announced. Update 18 looks set to be a pretty major addition for the chicken dinner-giving shooter, bringing limb penetration and dynamic weather into the mix. As you might recall, this update recently went live for the PC version of PUBG. Why didn’t Red Dead Redemption 2 hit the Switch? Apparently, it was simply a matter of unfortunate timing. However you feel about Nintendo’s plucky little hybrid handheld, you’ve got to admit that the Switch deserves some kudos. Riot Games will pay every female employee a portion of a $10 million fund to settle the class action lawsuit filed against the company in 2018 (via Los Angeles Times). The League of Legends publisher was criticised for creating a toxic workplace culture that “rewards behaviour that disadvantages women.” One plaintiff claimed that her supervisor thought that “diversity should not be a focal point of the design of Riot Games’ products because gaming culture is the last remaining safe haven for white teen boys....

The Batman marks the return of Gotham City’s caped crusader, with Robert Pattinson taking on the role of Bruce Wayne and Matt Reeves as the film’s director. With the movie set to release in theaters in just a couple months, more details are surfacing. For starters, according to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, the movie will run for just over three hours with credits. The movie itself has a run time of two hours and 55 minutes, with an extra eight minutes for the end credits....

Overwatch’s next patch will be so big, you’re basically going to reinstall the entire game. Usually, when a game developer makes you re-download the entire game, it’s because they somehow screwed up. There’ve been a few EA games that had a day one patch that was larger than the entire game itself (although thankfully not any recent games). Fallout 76 recently had a day one patch during its beta that was larger than the entire game....

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous went live on Kickstarter on February 4 and hit the $1 million mark in only eight days, and it has already surpassed the amount raised by the previous title, Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Wrath of the Righteous will bring players to a new land where they will face a new and more challenging enemy: a demonic invasion. Last month Sony announced the first annual PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards to kick off their Spring Fever sales event.
