For those patiently waiting to hear more about Obsidian’s RPG Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire and its arrival on the Nintendo Switch, there’s bad news: it is no longer coming. Publisher Versus Evil announced its plans to cancel its Switch version of the game on Discord. “Hey there! Today is an exciting day for Planet Zoo enthusiasts, as the beta for those who preordered the Deluxe Edition is now live. The beta is going to run until October 8th and all you need to do in order to access it is purchase Planet Zoo Deluxe Edition, which comes out on November 5th. The publisher of free to play mobile game Transformers: Earth Wars reveals the huge amount of money that one player has spent on the game. The news comes just weeks after it was revealed that one Runescape player spent more than $60,000 on microtransactions in the popular fantasy RPG. Speaking at the Game Connect Asia-Pacific event as part of Melbourne International Games Week, Transformers: Earth Wars publisher Yodo1 revealed someone spent around $150,000 on the game....

Talk about being vague. Randomly in the middle of The Game Awards, the next Brendan Greene (a.k.a. PlayerUnknown) game was announced. A recent statement from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO, Jim Ryan, has revealed that he is unhappy with the current offer made by Microsoft about the continued presence of Call of Duty on PlayStation platforms. As it stands, Microsoft’s latest proposal indicates that the COD franchise will still be available for PlayStation users after the Activision Blizzard acquisition comes into place, giving players a chance to play the games for at least three more years on the platform beyond the present contract....

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that its Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden has left the company (via Siliconera). Over time, Layden was tasked to focus on PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios to ‘provide platform-defining content that helps drive the growth of SIE.’ Through this shift, he was responsible for the continued success of the PlayStation 4 with games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, and The Last Guardian developed under his guidance that drove the company....

Microsoft and Remedy Entertainment dropped a new trailer for military shooter Crossfire X at X019 today, showing off gameplay of the free-to-play title’s upcoming Xbox One version and setting a release window for next year.
