Realm Royale is opening the doors for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users this week in the form of an Open Beta, Hi-Rez Studios has announced (via XBA). Set in the Paladins universe, Realm Royale was previously available on consoles in the form of a Closed Beta, although this time around you won’t need an invite code to get in on the action. Hi-Riz is also planning to roll out new content for the battle royale title throughout the year....

Resident Evil 7 has topped the UK video game chart in a busy week for new releases, reports Chart-Track. The new first-person take on the Resident Evil franchise recorded the third best week one total for a Resident Evil game, a record currently held by 2009’s Resident Evil 5. A massive 73 per cent of week one retail Resident Evil 7 sales were on PS4, 25 per cent on Xbox One, and two per cent on PC....
By now, you can’t have missed that Apex Legends is poised to embark on its 12th season of content, known as Defiance, next Tuesday, 8th February. Developer Respawn and publisher EA have been promoting the game ceaselessly in recent weeks, gradually unveiling a new limited-time 9v9 mode, as well big changes for the game’s Olympus map, and, of course, a mouthy new hero in the form of Mad Maggie. It’s Maggie that took the spotlight in a recent developer session for press, with Respawn keen to dive more deeply into the character - as well as her abilities - before her official arrival next week....

Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal are all on their way to Nintendo Switch. The news came during today’s Nintendo Direct Mini partner showcase. Sony has announced PLAY 2016, described by the publisher as a “celebration of our favourite digital PS4 games releasing this summer – selected in collaboration with our colleagues on both the 1st and 3rd party teams”. All four games in PLAY 2016 are making their console-first digital debuts on PS4 and PS Plus members are being offered a 20 per cent pre-order discount. A full pre-release version of Blizzard’s cancelled point-and-click adventure game Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans has surface online, giving Warcraft fans a chance to experience the game which was cancelled back in 1998. You’ll find the download here, though be quick as we’ve no idea how long the file will remain online. In the near-finished version of the game – complete with in-game cinematics and voice acting – players must help Thrall on his adventure which begins by escaping a prison cell....
The PlayStation Direct store has opened its virtual doors in the UK, allowing fans to buy consoles, accessories and physical games directly from Sony. Sony announced earlier this week it was finally bringing its own online store to Europe, starting with Germany. The UK store has gone live today, and there’ll be ones in France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg soon. The PlayStation Direct service had already been available in the US as far back as 2019....

The game is known as a ridiculously difficult platformer developed by Bennett Foddy, and Pokimane celebrated following its completion, though she did not appear to know that she was at the end until the in-game message appeared.
