Atsushi Inaba, head of Platinum Games, recently revealed that the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X have not swept him off his feet. In an interview with VGC, he was quick to qualify that he isn’t trying to rain on anyone’s parade. “I don’t want to sound like, ‘hey, I know everything about the new consoles and they’re boring’. The price of an annual subscription to PlayStation Plus is due to increase in the US and Canada next month, Sony has announced, rising from $49.99 USD/$49.99 CAD to $59.99 USD/$69.99 CAD. Three month subscriptions will also increase to $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD, although monthly subscriptions will only go up in Canada, rising to $11.99 CAD. In the US, they’ll remain at $9.99. The price increase will come into effect as of September 22 and will be reflected in users’ auto-renewals once their current subscription expires....

Sony has moved to reassure fans of its big budget single-player PlayStation games, as it announces a fresh PlayStation Studios Mobile Division. Writing via the PlayStation blog, studios boss Hermen Hulst listed this year’s various PS4 and PS5 games - “huge releases including Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, MLB The Show 22, and on November 9th, the highly anticipated God of War: Ragnarök” - as well as PlayStation VR2, to demonstrate its commitment to console gaming....
