Just take a look at the Europa Universalis 4 Steam page and you’ll see that the review score has tanked since this whole controversy started. Paradox responded fairly quickly, rolling back the new valuations (at the start of the Steam Summer Sale, no less) and promising refunds or reimbursements to those who paid higher prices....

Path Of Exile developer Chris Wilson recently stood up against crunch in the game industry, choosing to lead by example and calling out other game studios for overworking their staff. Wilson, the CEO of Grinding Gear Games, has taken a strong stance on the topic of overworking employees for the sake of pushing out content and patches as quickly as possible at the cost of any employee work/life balance. Today Atlus hosted a livestream presenting the results of the fan survey launched back in May, providing interesting information on what its customers want from the popular developer. We learn that 44,731 people compiled the survey in total, of whom 13,971 were from Japan and 30,760 were from North America. European fans were not involved, albeit it’s likely safe to assume that many cheated and simply responded to the North American survey....

PlayStation is dipping it’s toe back in the often unsteady waters of FMV, with a movie-length branching FMV game called Erica. Erica, which was announced at Paris Games Week, is developed by Flavourworks in London, and features branching paths that you, as a player, choose. According to Flavourworks, ‘eveyr choice has a profound effect on what the player will see next.’ The trailer has a sinister, neo-noir thriller kind of vibe to it....

Today Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the monthly games that will be granted to PlayStation Plus subscribers in July 2022 at no additional cost. We’re getting Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time for PS5 and PS4, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan for PS4, and Arcadegeddon for PS5 and PS4. The new games will be made available on July 5 to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers. Of course, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium get access to their respective libraries as well....

The developer behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has slapped a new name on its upcoming Savage map: It’s now known as Sanhok. Ubisoft delivered a double whammy of delays this delectable day of Friday. The publisher announced on its website that both Riders Republic and Rainbow Six Extraction have been delayed. With the former, however, the delay isn’t so bad, at roughly two months. Rainbow Six Extraction, however, won’t let you take on the Archæan threat until January next year. I don’t know which of you had ‘Rainbow Six Extraction gets delayed’ on your bingo card, but go ahead and put that chip down....

Ubisoft’s upcoming co-op PvE shooter Rainbow Six Extraction is a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass members. This means subscribers can play the game on Xbox consoles and PC from Extraction’s launch on 20th January. Rainbow Six Siege, which is already available as part of Game Pass on console and the cloud, will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members the same day....

At CES 2022, Razer revealed its new gaming chair dubbed the Enki Pro Hypersense, which adds to its existing line-up of gaming chairs. On the surface, the design of the Enki Pro Hypersense is very similar to the Razer Enki X. Except now, there’s the addition of haptic feedback that reacts to what you do in-game. Gaming chairs don’t tend to come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but Razer has tried to change things here and there....

British studio Rebellion celebrates its 25th anniversary this week, and the studio’s CEO and co-founder Jason Kingsley has been talking to the press about its games, paying particular attention to single player, a topic hotly contested since EA closed down Visceral last month.
