Out of nowhere Sony has announced that a smaller PlayStation 4 console will launch on September 15 priced £259. We’re joking of course. Umbrella Corps, a new multiplayer third-person team shooter set in the Resident Evil universe, will launch for PS4 via PSN in 2016, Capcom announced this morning during Sony’s TGS 2015 press conference. The competitive online game promises quick, intense matches in compact battle zones themed on historic Resident Evil environments. In the One Life Deathmatch mode, one life per round is all the player gets as they must not only face the enemy team but also contend with classic Resident Evil enemies....

Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya confirmed that the third game is “progressing very smoothly,” despite the silence since it was revealed in 2017 (via Nintendo Life). At The Game Awards 2017, we got our first and only look at Bayonetta 3 in the form of a teaser trailer. It also announced that Bayonetta 1 and Bayonetta 2 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. These came out in 2018, and a Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle was revealed in late 2019 to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 20, 2020....

Recently, we reported about the Persona 5 slot machine Sega Sammy is creating for casinos, but looks like the company isn’t done exploiting the game to create gambling (or quasi-gambling) machines. Today Sega Sammy also announced a Persona 5 pachislot machine coming soon to Japan’s pachinko parlors. If you’re unfamiliar with pachislot, they’re a hybrid between slot machines and pachinko machines (traditional quasi-gambling mechanical games based on small steel balls, featuring elements in common with pinball) that are found in dedicated establishments in Japan....

Kelsey Danger, community manager for Pokémon Go, has reported receiving “violent threats” following discussion of a recent bug within the game. Fixing the bug involved Pokémon Go developer Niantic briefly disabling the game’s Bluetooth device support - used by auto-catching accessories such as the officially-licensed Go Plus device and unofficial Gotcha wristband. Support for these gadgets was re-enabled this morning when the bug was fixed, following a weekend of fan fury directed at Danger....

Today The Pokemon Company followed up on the reveal made a few days ago, unveiling a brand new electric Pokemon that will appear in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Bellibolt is able to expand and contract its elastic body to generate electricity in an organ that is similar to a belly button....

The amount of time spent playing video games has a far greater effect on children’s behaviour than the type of games they play, a new study has found. According to research carried out by the University of Oxford, children who play games for more than three hours a day “are more likely to be hyperactive, get involved in fights and not be interested in school”. But that isn’t a result of playing violent video games, the university suggests, who says that it could not find any link “between playing violent games and real-life aggression or a child’s academic performance”....

UPDATE 09/06/22: The UK is not “currently considering” copying the charger rule planned by the European Union. As per Brexit, the UK does not have to comply with the new rule, although by the current post-Brexit arrangement the regulation would still apply in Northern Ireland as it remains inside the EU’s single market for goods. The pipeline of rumors and leaks for the PlayStation 5 continues to hint at big changes for the next-generation console. Whether it’s full backward compatibility with all previous PlayStation video games or the addition of a very fast SSD that will minimize loading times, the PS5 is set to deliver huge improvements over the PS4. Known for mouthwatering visuals and challenging level design, Rayman has earned its place among gaming’s elite franchises. Admittedly, in recent years, Ubisoft has not exactly treated Rayman like an important license, as the series has been primarily limited to mobile devices.
