Phoenix Point was first delayed in early 2018, as developer Snapshot Games decided to push it back to 2019. The developers announced their plans to polish the game further, hoping to make a bigger impact on the genre. There was another delay announced earlier this year, and that one gave Phoenix Point a September release. Julian Gollop, the director of Phoenix Point and creator of the original X-COM, shared an update video on the reasons for that delay....

I had an interview with the team behind Plasma. Sadly, I listened back to the transcript and it’s fifteen minutes of me laughing with delight, while heavy aircraft are clearly going through maneuvers overhead. No matter. Plasma is dizzyingly complex, but very easy to explain. It’s an engineering sandbox game. You make stuff in a 3D world using pre-made parts and simplified code, and then you can share it with other people....

Piano creeps in and trumpets growl as the sun rises on another puzzle in Please Fix The Road. Sunlight pours over this miniature diorama, which I destroy and twist and rebuild until, once the road is fixed, its figurines pop into fireworks and the whole set splits and morphs into the next. The presentation adds almost cinematic flair to this delightful puzzle game. Yet though it might look wholesome, Please Fix The Road is actually a fiendish little thing....

A listing for Prey VR has appeared on retailer ShopTo, and it appears to be exclusive to PlayStation VR. The odd thing is that the port is said to be exclusive to PlayStation VR. Prey is multiplatform, and it seems strange to cut out a portion of possible players when the original game was widely available. Moreover, it remains to be seen whether the port would also include the Mooncrash DLC, which was a bit like Marmite for Prey players....

Sony may be planning to host a conference on the upcoming PlayStation 5 next week, as per a report from Bloomberg. Anonymous sources have spoken to Bloomberg about the possibility of a PS5 event as early as June 3—this, of course, could be subject to change. The report goes on to say that other PS5 conferences and events could take place in the “coming weeks and months.” Given the current Covid-19 pandemic and its effect on logistics, these things are susceptible to laste-minute changes of plan....

Glass Onion has been out for four days and has proven to be a real whirlwind on streaming. The newest mystery from writer-director extraordinaire Rian Johnson is grabbing viewers everywhere as he proves yet again that no genre is beyond his grasp. In the production cycle leading up to the release of Glass Onion, Johnson had been very vocal about one particular film that inspired Glass Onion, as well as Knives Out....

Although the restoration of PSN services has begun in various parts of the world, the home country of the company from which the service originated has not been so lucky. While the U.S. is already knee deep in PS3 online gaming, Japan is being forced to wait until Sony passes a few security reviews before they can gain access to the PlayStation Network. The Media and Content Industry department of the Ministry of Economy must deliver approval before the PSN can be brought online....

PlayStation Experience, Sony’s annual PlayStation showcase, will not be happening this year. The news comes by way of the PlayStation Blogcast, where worldwide studio head Shawn Layden said, ‘Now that we have Spider-Man out the door, we’re looking down into 2019 games like Dreams and Days Gone. But we wouldn’t have enough to bring people all together in North America to have that event.’ Layden explained that the reason for not hosting the event this year came down to managing expectations....

Id Software has announced that Rage 2 will not support mods on launch day, but hasn’t ruled out the possibility of the feature coming later down the line. Speaking with PC Gamer, id Software’s Tim Willits was keen to remind folk that the acclaimed developer is big into the mod scene, which fuels hope that Rage 2 may still support them in the future. On the topic of mods, Willits said the colourful sequel ‘will not support modding out of the gate,’ before adding: ‘You know that at id Software we’re big into mods, so we know it’s important, we just haven’t figured out that roadmap yet....
