A new version of Pokemon Sun and Moon is heading to Nintendo Switch in 2017, according to a new report. Eurogamer claims to have been told that the new game will be titled ‘Pokemon Stars’ and will be the first mainline Pokemon game playable on TVs. You should probably think of it as the Pokemon Yellow to the Game Boy’s Pokemon Blue and Red. The game is reportedly being developed by Game Freak and will include features “not found in the 3DS versions”, plus support for Pokemon Bank, allowing players to transfer Pokemon to and from the 3DS games....

Yes, Prey’s performance on PC is very good. That should immediately answer the most pressing question people will have about this release. After Dishonored 2 (and the lack of a PC Prey demo), there was a whole lot of understandable skepticism about Arkane’s technical abilities. A big difference between Dishonored 2 and Prey, though, is the engine the game’s are running on. For their Dishonored sequel, Arkane opted to convert a version of id Tech 5 into the ‘Void Engine’....

PUBG publisher Krafton says it “remains steadfast” in its plans to “secure and expand powerful game-based IPs”. Sharing its 2023 strategic direction with employees, the company said it was committed to “driving sustainable growth and strengthening its publishing capabilities globally” and remains committed to “web3 and deep learning”. It says that whilst PUBG “continues to be a major priority”, “the company’s efforts in 2023 to develop a deeper catalogue of titles and stay ahead of rapid advances in tech will drive new processes and internal efficiencies toward essential growth”....

The official Japanese Twitter account for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has just shared a spooky treat in time for Halloween: a remix of the song “A Ghost’s Pumpkin Soup” from Sonic Adventure 2 by longtime composer of music for this and other Sonic games, Tomoya Ohtani. In its original form, the unremixed song serves as the background music for a stage called Pumpkin Hill, which is even referenced throughout the song’s lyrics....

A unionisation bid by QA staff at Call of Duty studio Raven Software will continue, despite Activision Blizzard missing last night’s 11pm deadline to respond and voluntarily recognise the group. The bid will now be filed with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), an independent government agency. Raven staff announced last week that they would attempt to unionise as part of the Communication Workers of America (CWA), and voted to begin the process of being recognised by their employer....

Nvidia is releasing Portal with RTX, which will see the game’s graphics reimagined “with full ray tracing and entirely new art evocative of the original.” In a detailed blog post, Nvidia stated that “full ray tracing” will mean every level will be transformed. Light will now bounce around the settings, and “be affected by the scene’s geometry and materials”. Meanwhile, where shadows are being cast, these will be “pixel perfect”....

A Hot Coffee mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 recently surfaced online, which essentially allows players to sleep with some female characters in the game. Long time fans of Rockstar Games have seen a Hot Coffee mod before though, and when it was first discovered within 2004’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, it made a much bigger splash. GTA San Andreas’ Hot Coffee mod originally wasn’t a mod at all. Rockstar had first planned to include a sex mini-game within San Andreas, which would be unlocked after reaching a specific relationship level with your in-game girlfriend....

It looks like we may be waiting a while longer for a rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake, as it’s been reported that the as-yet-unannounced project has been partially rebooted and taken away from M-Two following disagreements over its direction. The report comes from VideoGamesChronicle, who claim its sources have told them that mainline Resident Evil studio Capcom Division 1 is now working on the project following a key project review late last year....

Resident Evil spin-off Umbrella Corps will release digitally on PS4 and PC in May for £24.99, Capcom has announced. The third-person multiplayer shooter will let up to 6-players compete online in team-based battles and fight across locations from previous Resident Evil titles, including the Village from Resident Evil 4 and a new Tricell HQ inspired by Resident Evil 5. A single-player mode known as ‘The Experiment’ will also be thrown in, offering a “horde-like mode” that pits players against waves of enemies in more than 20 missions....

Hopoo Studios shared some major news today about its third-person roguelike shooter in active development. On August 11, Risk of Rain 2 will fully release on Steam, marking the end of the Early Access period. The release will coincide with the next planned update, appropriately dubbed the “Launch Update.” Risk of Rain 2 has been in development for several years now, and first entered Early Access back in March of 2019....

Attempting to make a narrative-focused game that’s different in every playthrough is a tall order. Road 96 attempts some new things by placing rogue-lite elements within the framework of a story focused around a country filled with injustice, where escape is a constant desire for many members of the populace. I got to play a couple of runs, but the game had such severe crashing issues for me that my PC randomly turned off multiple times while attempting to play it....

Blizzard have revealed the first details of the brand new map coming in Season 2 of free to play hero shooter Overwatch 2. It’s entitled Shambali Monastery, and will be an Escort map. It will also be the second new map in the game following Esperanca, Portugal added in Season 1. The new map is based on the former home of characters Zenyatta and the incoming Zenyatta. Players can battle over this former sanctuary for the Omnics starting on December 6th when the new season arrives....

What a year, what a year, but I still managed to scrape together a list of five PC games that I played in 2021 that were actually good. I suppose I could add an interesting bad game into the mix. But I already wrote a review and two guides for Chorus, so let’s not waste words. Here are my top five PC games of 2021. Perry Mason will have another season on its docket for HBO, which has renewed the reboot series for a second season. Indeed, the series, which stars The Americans‘ Matthew Rhys as author Erle Stanley Gardner’s classic titular crime-solving lawyer, has managed to procure a Season 2 renewal slightly past the midway point of Season 1, which most recently aired its July 19 episode, the fifth of eight for the inaugural outing....

PES 2017 will be updated to support PS4 Pro “shortly after launch”, Konami has announced. While we don’t yet know how the game is being enhanced for the new console, it’s likely it’ll be updated to support a 4K-quality resolution via Sony’s new ‘Checkerboard Rendering’ technique. This year’s PES goes on sale this Friday, September 16, and is, according to Tom, “a wonderful football game that just begs to be played”....

Today Sega revealed content coming over the next few months to its MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. We get to see Halloween content that is actually coming tomorrow (Oct. 26), followed by the first part of the Autumn event which launches on Nov. 2. Of course, this includes the inevitable AC Scratch and SG Scratch tickets. On Nov. 16 we’re getting the second part of the Autumn Event which will include a crossover AC Scratch with the popular Overlord anime....

Less than a week ago, Phasmophobia made its ghosts stronger by enabling them to follow player sounds more accurately. This levelled the playing field somewhat for seasoned players, who may have begun to find things a little easy. However, the developer clearly doesn’t deem the changes strong enough, as the ghosts in Phasmophobia were buffed again in the latest update. In the current beta build, the ghost will now search closer to a player’s last known location if it has lost them....
