It’s still weird to think that Persona 5 Royal is coming to PC. But it’s indeed happening, and a new audience will finally get to check out the critically acclaimed JRPG. PC players also get a big bonus with the new port of Persona 5 Royal, as it comes with all the DLC previously released for the game. This was confirmed by the official Persona website (cheers, PC Gamer), which outlines each of the DLC packs coming with the game....
Sega and Atlus West have released the launch trailer for spin-off Persona 5: Strikers ahead of the game’s launch next week. In case you need a quick catch-up, Persona 5 Strikers (known as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers in Japan) reunites our favourite Phantom Thieves from Persona 5, but this time puts them on Summer Vacation on an epic road trip. Musou gameplay gets mixed into the traiditional JRPG gameplay slant of the usual Persona games, with each character having their own skills and attacks and, naturally, summonable Personas to take out the groups of enemies you’ll face along the way....

Krafton, the parent company behind PUBG Corporation of battle royale title PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds fame looks like they’re wanting to expand the PUBG universe further with a new game it reportedly wants to release by next year. The report comes from a profile by Bloomberg on CEO Kim Chang-han, where the report claims the company plants to release several PUBG related titles in the near future, including a “new battle royale mobile title this year” based on the hit game, “another PUBG-related PC and console game next year” and a survival horror game set for release in 2022, which would be the already announced The Calisto Protocol coming from former Dead Space developer Glen Schofield’s team....
The BBC has announced it’s finally made its on-demand iPlayer app available on the PlayStation 5, some one year after the console’s launch. From today, the BBC iPlayer app can be found in the Media tab on the home screen. Then you just have to download the app from the All Apps section, sign in with your BBC ID and you’re away with a wealth of programmes and movies to watch....

Sony has announced plans to cease production of physical game cards for the PlayStation Vita by March 31, 2019. While digital software for the handheld will still be available, you won’t be able to head into brick-and-mortar retailers and buy a physical copy of a PS Vita game in the near future. Better grab them while they’re hot, then. Interestingly, the format holder still plans on continuing to manufacture physical game cards for Japan and Asia, as PS Vita is still selling decently in those territories....

Big news in the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) universe this week, as they’re opening a brand new studio. The new gaming studio, called Striking Distance, will feature industry leader Glen Schofield as its CEO. Known for his influential work as executive producer on the hit franchise Dead Space, Schofield went on to co-found Sledgehammer Games. He’s also known for leading development on multiple Call Of Duty titles from there, including Modern Warfare 3 and Call Of Duty: WWII....
Boss Key’s new battle royale title Radical Heights is slowly but surely bringing out the cheaters. Despite some ridiculous articles from some publications slating the game the day after release when it was clearly stated it was a very early version, Radical Heights appears to be doing OK with player numbers reaching a peak of 12,757 today. Amusingly one Steam user got caught out after offering a free Steam game to everyone if the game reached more than 10K concurrent users....
Rage 2 is certainly a game that came out this year. The shooting mechanics were fun, there were some neat abilities, and enemies exploded into meaty chunks in a very satisfying way. There just isn’t any reason to pick Rage 2 over any other action-packed title that released in 2019. With its generic post-apocalyptic setting, bland story, and open world that doesn’t offer much beyond new areas to blow people up at, it was utterly disposable in every way....
Video game protagonists have inarguably become more varied, multi-layered, and well-crafted over the years. Last console generation saw a few too many burly hyper-masculinized soldiers and space marines, but in this generation, we’ve done pretty well. We have a lot more female protagonists, characters with real tangible growth and change, and protagonists able to laugh at themselves a little. The problem with many games is that they seem to forget that they are usually stories, and if you sit through a book or a film and see little change in its characters, you’ll come away feeling cheated....
Rockstar Games knows that it can keep players coming back to Red Dead Redemption 2 by consistently updating its online portion, with the studio having recently introduced new recurring timed events called Legendary Bounties. Rockstar Games recently released the formerly console-exclusive Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC. The game boasts a wide variety of quality settings, especially ones that can’t be achieved on console, as well as a few minor bonus content features. While the game looks great and plays well on a wide variety of computers, a still-buggy launcher makes it incredibly hard to get started. Earlier this week, a ResetEra forum posted an interview that Death Stranding Star Norman Reedus recently did with men’s culture website Leo Edit. In the discussion, the topic of the next iteration of the game came up. While the verbiage is a bit vague, you can see in the conversation below that Reedus hints toward a second Death Stranding stranding video game is in the works. The assumption that the actor is talking about a new game in the series can be inferred by the fact that he goes on to talk about Death Stranding when asked the question “how did that come about,” meaning that the previous answer was about that subject matter....
