It’s being reported that Sony will extend production of the PlayStation 4 console to the end of this year. That’s according to Bloomberg, who cite “people familiar with the matter” as their sources. Apparently, Sony have informed their assembly partners they will continue making the older console through 2022. This is, in part, to help alleviate the problem of continued stock issues of the PlayStation 5, making the newer console still difficult to get hold of over a year after its original launch....

Microsoft has revealed Project Moorcroft, a new program that will bring demos of upcoming games to Xbox Game Pass. Set to roll out within the next year, Project Moorcroft will see Microsoft pay developers to create demos of their upcoming games and bring them to the subscription service. Microsoft did not say whether there’s a mandated time-limit for these demos, or how long they will stick around the subscription service after launch....

Valve will soon roll out a Steam update which enables full customisation to controllers other than the Steam Controller, with the first being the PS4’s DualShock 4, Valve announced at Steam Dev Days yesterday. “This means that players can pair their PS4 controller directly to their PC and use all the configurability options available to the Steam Controller, including use of the PS4 touchpad and gyro,” said Valve’s Jeff Bellinghausen....

The first game for the PlayStation 5 has been announced. Godfall, developed by Counterplay Games, was unveiled during The Game Awards 2019. It’s a self-described “looter-slasher” and beyond some basic details, very little is known about the game. The developer behind LawBreakers has announced it’ll launch its latest title, battle royale game Radical Heights, on Steam’s Early Access tomorrow. Radical Heights fuses the gameplay you’d expect from the industry-dominating battle royale genre with a vibrant, 1980s aesthetic. The whole thing seems to be heavily inspired by The Running Man with the whole murderous game show aspect; here, players compete for cash prizes while, you know, trying to bump each other off with an array of over-the-top weapons....

A PS4 and PS5 rating for Resistance: Retribution has been spotted in Korea, suggesting it will likely be added to Sony’s PS Plus subscription. Resistance: Retribution was Bend Studio’s third-person PSP prequel to the Resistance series. As Gematsu writes, The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea have rated the game for current consoles. PSP games will be available to Premium subscribers, though only a couple have been officially announced so far: Super Stardust Portable and Ridge Racer 2 (in Asia)....

Riot Games has been touting the celebration of its tenth anniversary of League of Legends for some time now, with the developer just revealing a new digital card game based within the game’s universe. It’s called Legends of Runeterra, which was trademarked in 2018, and the timing is perfect considering all the recent controversy that Blizzard has caused with its online collectible card game, Hearthstone.
