Sony Interactive Entertainment appears to have filed a trademark for 2014 Insomniac Games open-world shooter Sunset Overdrive. As spotted by Nibellion on Twitter, a trademark for the game was filed at the US Patent and Trademark last week on April 26 by Sony themselves. The IP has actually been with Insomniac for some time, and was officially confirmed to have arrived along in the sale when PlayStation acquired Insomniac back in 2019, but this is the first we’ve heard of PlayStation doing much with the title since then....

Imane “Pokimane” Anys made a classic mistake by Google Image searching while live on Twitch. She was baited by viewers into searching for the word “spunk,” as she was led to believe it was the name of a person that she looked like. Consequently, she and her audience were met with a slew of NSFW images – most notably displaying a sex toy for all of her viewers to see. Pokimane clearly thought nothing of the word considering the word’s original innocent meaning, but unfortunately for the popular Canadian-Moroccan streamer, it also has some NSFW connotations....

PS4 and Xbox One console sales now stand at “around 60 million” units, according to Mad Catz’ chief financial officer David McKeon, 5 million more than the figure quoted by EA at the end of January. The figure was revealed during the peripheral company’s Q3 earnings call last night, where McKeon also stated that the firm expects sales of the consoles to almost triple within the next three years, projecting an installed base of over 150 million units by the end of 2018....

With the launch of Quantum Break now only weeks away, Microsoft and Remedy have released the game’s cinematic launch trailer. The action in the trailer is set to an original rendition of Nirvana’s iconic ‘Come as You Are’ performed by electronic rock duo Prep School. Ubisoft has unveiled a collaboration with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio to release some Yakuza themed skins for Rainbow Six Siege. The Yakuza bundle will be available from May 24 and include new cosmetic sets for operators Echo and Hibana. These outfits will transform them into series mainstay Kazuma Kiryu and Yakuza 2‘s Kaoru Sayama, respectively. The trailer also teases a third silhouette with looks to be Goro Majima, but is keeping details on when he’ll appear under wraps for now....

The Escapist Indie Showcase aired today and revealed a ton of new games from independent devs. One of those was a particularly trippy looking narrative-puzzle game called Recursive Ruin. It debuted with a trailer that’s worth a watch for anyone interested in the genre, or aesthetically mesmerizing experiences for that matter. The trailer is short and only shows a few glimpses of gameplay, but this first look is certainly enough to build some hype for the 2022 release....

Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that sales of the PS3 in the US climbed 300 per cent in the week the PS3 Slim launched. “On September 1, the new 120GB PlayStation 3 hit retail stores, an incredible entertainment value for consumers at the new price point of $299,” read the SCEA statement. “Our top retailers have reported a 300% lift in PS3 hardware sales and an increase of 140% in total hardware revenue across the PlayStation portfolio when comparing the first week of September to the week before the $299 price adjustment....

The PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is still on track to release later this year, Crystal Dynamics has confirmed, despite the game failing to appear at last month’s E3. An update on the PS4 version’s was posted by an admin on the official Square Enix forums, where they quote Crystal Dynamics as saying: “As stated previously, Rise of the Tomb Raider’s PlayStation 4 release is set for Holiday 2016....

Pac-Man is celebrating his 42nd anniversary of wakka-wakka-ing his way through mazes eating pellets and ghosts. To celebrate, a colourful, psychedelic music video has been released for a new theme song: “We are PAC-MAN!” It’s sung by Kaho Kidoguchi in Japanese and English, and Ann Una in Chinese. “The song aims at promoting people cooperating and connecting together to live a healthy lifestyle,” reads a press release. One of the more surprising attendees at PAX East this year was Fuelcell Games’ artistic Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. This is a title I was hoping would have made an appearance at last year’s E3, but for one reason or other it didn’t materialize. Luckily, the game was playable at Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade booth, along with The Gunstringer, Trenched, and a few others. For the uninitiated, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is a 2D side-scroller in which players control a little UFO, navigating through various dangerous environments, both above and below ground....
