After a lot of rumor and speculation, Sega has confirmed that popular sci-fi fantasy MMO Phantasy Star Online 2 will finally debut on PC in North America on May 27. What’s more, a famous Japanese idol is gracing the game with her presence. None other than Hatsune Miku, the fictional singer, will appear in the game as part of an ongoing collaboration. The Pokémon Company has announced some new details on the upcoming Scarlet and Violet expansion to the Pokémon Trading Game ahead of its release this March. The new expansion will bring the tabletop game up to date with the games, introducing a bunch of the latest Pokémon into the card battler. But it’ll also change things up with some gameplay mechanic updates. The Pokemon Company has teased next year’s 25th anniversary celebration of the Pokemon series, getting fans excited for the quarter-century of the blockbuster franchise. The announcement came as part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade over in the US, where the famous giant Pikachu balloon of course made its appearance flanked by a troupe of dancing Pikachu busting some moves to the iconic theme song. Update: Sony Interactive Entertainment head Andrew House has told The Guardian that the company does not see physical media being a major player in the home video space going forward, explaining its decision to leave a UHD Blu-ray player out of the PS4 Pro spec. Furthermore, House says such a feature cannot be added via a firmware update. “Our feeling is that while physical media continues to be a big part of the games business, we see a trend on video towards streaming,” he said....

PS4 Pro is a “good machine” with a “good spec”, Xbox planning exec Albert Penello has said, but its 4.2 teraflop GPU “is not enough to do true 4K”. Speaking to Eurogamer, Penello explained that Microsoft had purposefully chosen a 6 TFLOP GPU for its upcoming Project Scorpio so that it could “deliver Xbox One-quality games in 4K”, and have “fewer asterisks around the 4K experiences” than Sony. “I think there are a lot of caveats they [Sony] are giving customers right now around 4K,” he said....

Ubisoft has blown the lid wide open on Operation Para Bellum, the next major update for tactical shooter Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The highlight of the new update includes a new map called Villa, an expansive gaff nestled in the midst of the picturesque Italian countryside. Rebellion has re-released a trio of older games onto Steam, resurrecting them from the graveyard of vanished games. The three titles in question are Gunlok, Free Running, and World War Zero.
