As the PS5 and Xbox Series X loom closer to launch, more details about the new generation consoles continue to appear in some form or another. With games being as big as they are and needing as much space as they do nowadays, storage is becoming an increasingly important factor in many players’ purchasing decisions. Both Sony and Microsoft have confirmed that the next-gen consoles will feature solid state drives, SSDs (as opposed to HDDs), to support storage needs and to facilitate a much faster gaming experience....

Today Sony announced its financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2021, which ended on December 31, including an update on PS5 and PS4 shipments. 3.9 million PS5 and 200,000 PS4 units were purchased by retailers worldwide during the quarter, which means that the grand total for PS4 as of September 30 is at 116.9 million units shipped. On the other hand, PS5 has shipped 17.3 million units in its lifetime....

Another Psychonauts 2 Basic Braining video has been put out by Double Fine, this time focused around the enemies hero Raz will take on when the game launches next week. As before, the enemies share a common theme around metaphors of issues of the mind. These include the returning Censors who now also come in smaller and Heavy variants. They’re joined by a new enemy type called Regrets who fly around carrying weights that they’ll drop on Raz’s head....

Push Me Pull You, a new two-on-two sports game from Australian indie studio House House, will launch for PS4 early in 2016. A PC version will also launch next year. The game’s main hook is that players on each team are joined together, forming a stretchy body which must be used to gain control of a ball. “A game of Push Me Pull You consists of a big frantic mess of growing, shrinking, and stretching bodies, driven by our fluid, physics-based movement system,” explains studio director Michael McMaster....

Another week, another legendary bounty in Red Dead Redemption 2. The new legendary bounty is for a former military sharpshooter and anarchist agitator, Sergio Vincenza. After an attempted assassination on the governor of Saint Denis, players are tasked with bringing the fugitive in. Remedy Entertainment today has officially announced Control 2. While we’ve known that a sequel to Control was in the works, now we know the name at least won’t deviate from the standard. Control 2, once called Codename Heron, is official. 505 Games is set to publish. Remedy’s own Mikael Kasurinen, the Control franchise game director, also shared a quick update. Kasurinen writes that Control 2 will be Remedy’s second “leap into the unknown....

Resident Evil 2 will pack in around 10 hours for each of its campaigns, the game’s director and producer have revealed (via wccftech). Speaking during a launch event for the survival horror revamp in Dubai, Kazunori Kadoi and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed that Claire and Leon’s story will clock in far longer than the original version of the game, which first time round took you about 4-5 hours. Speedruns would chop this down to under the two-hour mark....

Capcom announced that Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil: Resistance are getting a demo and an open beta this month (via PC Gamer). The Resident Evil 3 Remake Raccoon City demo drops on March 19. The developer didn’t say where the tour will take you to, nor if Nemesis will show up at any point. Best to be prepared, anyhow. In addition, the asymmetric multiplayer mode Resident Evil: Resistance begins its open beta on March 27....

Capcom has announced it’s delaying the release of multiplayer companion game Resident Evil Re:Verse all the way into 2022. In a tweet from the game’s official account, the studio said: “The previously announced July 2021 launch of Resident Evil Re:Verse is being moved to 2022 so that the team can continue working to deliver a smooth gameplay experience. We will share updated launch details at a later time. Thank you for your patience and understanding....

Apex Legends & Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment has announced it’s hiring for a new singleplayer adventure from the studio. A tweet from Creative Director Mohammad Alavi revealed that a “small, but ambitious” team is looking for several roles. These include a Lead Technical Game Designer, a Senior Technical Game Designer, Senior Combat Designer and a Senior Level Designer. While the job listings themselves don’t reveal too much, they do offer a brief tease in the job description....

The first details and screenshots of Rise of the Tomb Raider have been revealed, courtesy of Game Informer. According to the site, Lara’s latest adventure will send her to the frozen wilderness of Siberia “on a hunt for the lost secrets of immortality” as she faces up to a new enemy, “a secret society that has been lying in the shadows since the last game”. Lara will reportedly have access to new gear to hunt and explore “larger puzzle tombs”, including, by the looks of it, two climbing axes....
