Up for the most coveted award, Game of the Year, are Deathloop, Inscription, It Takes Two, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal, although all are further nominated in sub-Game of the Year categories, such as Action Game of the Year or Adventure Game of the Year....

After years of waiting, Paramount’s Halo TV adaptation is finally available to stream today. To coincide with its release, Xbox Games Pass Ultimate subscribers can now also claim one month of Paramount+ for free. Please note however that the post from Xbox Wire states this offer is only available in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Mexico, Norway, the United States and Sweden. “Starting today, Ultimate members will be able to stream A Mountain of Entertainment, including the Paramount+ Original Series, Halo, premiering on March 24, along with other exclusive originals, big movies and more, with a 30-day free trial to Paramount+ via Perks,” Xbox writes....

Microsoft has announced plans to release a new title update for ReCore later this week that aims to improve the game’s lengthy load times. In a post on the game’s website, Microsoft Studios community manager Pamela Wang explained that the team had been “listening closely” to player feedback, and heard calls for loading times to be improved. “We heard you, we appreciate your patience, and we have good news!” she said....

Rockstar Games has created a great game in Red Dead Redemption. The story mode and characters are all great, and we gave it a positive review, but unfortunately (as Rory mentioned in a Midnight Rant) the multiplayer modes have been cumbersome and irritating. Those of you who were hoping that this add-on would add some depth to the multiplayer may be disappointed. Red Dead Redemption’s Liars and Cheats pack adds plenty content to the multiplayer experience, with new playable characters from the game’s story mode, a new Stonghold multiplayer mode, a new weapon called the “Explosive Rifle,” multiplayer poker and liar’s dice, Grand Prix horse racing, seven new gang hideouts, four brand new hunting grounds, 10 new achievements/trophies, and posse scoring and leader boards....

In case you haven’t heard, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Western-themed action-adventure game starring Arthur Morgan, a Van der Linde gang member dealing with the decline of the Wild Western way of life and fighting against government forces and other gangs. This game also follows John Marston, the protagonist from the first Red Dead Redemption. From shoot-outs to hunting to riding along the prairie, this game brings the nostalgia of the Wild West into a harsh and gritty real-world perspective....

Psychological horror sequel Remothered: Broken Porcelain was unveiled today at Gamescom’s Opening Night event, and it looks every bit as eerie as its predecessor. Developers Darril Arts and Stormwind Games shared a few choice details about the game, and their plans to release in mid-2020. Those who have been following this trilogy will absolutely find familiar elements continued on from Remothered: Tormented Fathers, which launched in 2018. Tormented Fathers was well-received for its intense psychological plot and gameplay defined by investigative puzzles, stealth, and survival; Broken Porcelain promises to preserve those traits and bring a host of new ones to the table as well....

Capcom has officially announced its long-awaited Resident Evil 4 remake, and provided a release date: 24th March 2023. This reimagined version of Capcom’s survival horror classic kicked off tonight’s State of Play showcase with an eye-catching trailer. A new playable character for the multiplayer Resident Evil game, Project Resistance, has leaked online. The newly leaked character brings the character roster up to six with the other five characters being shown in the first Project Resistance gameplay trailer. The new Resident Evil Project Resistance character is named Annette Birkin, a character who was first shown in the series in Resident Evil 2. Fans spotted Annette’s profile in the back of some Japanese marketing for the game, but a glitch in the Project Resistance beta offered more about the character....

The new third-person mode included in the Winters’ Expansion DLC for Resident Evil Village still won’t show Ethan’s face. As confirmed in last night’s RE Showcase, Ethan will turn his face away from the player when the camera is turned. PlayStation has announced next month’s games coming at no extra charge to subscribers of its PlayStation Plus service.
