Paradox has revealed a big free quality of life update for prison management sim Prison Architect - aptly known as the Free for Life update - which launches today on Xbox and PC. Free for Life is, according to Paradox, focussed on implementing the Prison Architect community’s most requested features so “players can spend more time managing their compound rather than navigating menus”. To that end, it brings a range of enhancements, including an improved scheduler and prison log - the latter enabling players to more easily check inmates’ activities, as well as “uncover misconducts ahead of time and keep track of who gets released, reformed, or reoffended”....

If you’re a PlayStation 4 gamer, you’re going to want to change your text-message settings. A new hack can potentially kill your entire system without warning, and unscrupulous gamers are using it to give themselves a leg-up in multiplayer games. The hack looks deceptively harmless. The entire message is just “Juegas [?]” with a heart emoji at the end....

Today’s update has introduced a new Urgent Quest to play. Titled “Mining Rig Defense: Aelio,” it is the third Urgent quest to be introduced into PSO2 New Genesis. Beginning this quest requires a Battle Power of at least 1,243 or higher. Battle Power can be increased by spending skill points, enhancing weapons or units, and adding augments to equipment. As with all Urgent Quests, the event to spawn this quest is random and cannot be triggered manually....

Ubisoft has confirmed that there’s no sequel in the pipeline for Rainbow Six Siege, and is instead committed to churning out fresh content for the squaddie shooter for the next decade or so. Speaking with Eurogamer, series brand director Alexandre Remy was about as succinct as you can get when touching base on a follow-up: ‘We are saying extremely loudly here: there is no sequel planned,’ adding, ‘We will be here for the next 10 years....

Fans of the Rainbow Six series were relieved when Siege first launched back in 2015. The last entry in the series was released seven years earlier in 2008, and between then and 2015 a game titled Rainbow 6: Patriots was announced and subsequently cancelled. It was a rough couple of years, but thankfully the wait paid off, and Rainbow Six Siege is still going strong four years after its initial release....

From the outside, Remnant: From the Ashes may simply look like Dark Souls with guns, but players are quickly finding out that this challenging game has a lot more going on under the hood. One of the biggest differences is the element of randomness and RNG that players experience during a playthrough as certain NPCs and items may not appear where they’re expected. Experiences for players will likely be very different, also adding a fair bit of replayability considering each run may be a bit different....

After months of speculation and rumors, Capcom has finally announced the remake of Resident Evil 3 for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One launching April 3, 2020. In a pleasant surprise at the end of the reveal trailer, Project Resistance was mentioned as being included as a core part of the game in its own multiplayer mode, now renamed Resident Evil Resistance. Until now, Resident Evil Resistance had been shown off in a way that made it seem as though it would launch as its own independent game....

Bandai Namco has announced that the latest outing for its iconic hero Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus will be heading to the Nintendo Switch in February. As well as all the content in the release from other platforms, the Nintendo Switch version will also feature an exclusive co-op mode that allows two players to work together on one console. In the mode, entitled Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus 2P, each player takes a single Joy-Con to control their own Pac-Man, and are able to perform unique co-operative moves in order to beat the ghosts and scoff all the power pellets....

Grinding Gear Games revealed the next expansion to Path of Exile: Sentinel in a livestream today. But while Sentinel won’t be as substantially large as previous expansions, it adds some interesting changes to the overall formula. Sentinels, for example, can be taken on your journeys. These constructs can buff enemies — an effect that improves your odds for better loot. Path of Exile: Sentinel also provides some changes to the reworked endgame brought by Siege of the Atlas....

2018 was another great year for gaming, AAA and indie alike. It’s hard to pick just three games when talking about my favorite PC titles from this year but if I must, I must. I actually covered all three of these games here already, but here they are again. Without further ado, here are my personal picks of 2018. Aggelos Aggelos was something that really flew under the radar. A love letter to the Wonder Boy games and Zelda II, it’s a side-scrolling action-platformer with a few dungeons and a lot of Metroidvania elements....

As we say goodbye to 2020, I want to look ahead at what’s in store over the next year or so. The next year is looking pretty stacked, especially considering the amount of delays this year has delivered. As we move into the next generation of console gaming, PC gaming moves on too, and I’m looking forward to what all this new tech will deliver next year. Not all of these games have solid release dates just yet, but here are my most anticipated games for 2021....

Last year, the BBC and FX gave us a macabre three-part retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol from the imagination of one of the UK’s leading screenwriters, Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, See, Taboo). That was just the beginning. A second Dickens adaptation is now on its way from Knight, and judging from the comments of one BBC boss, there’ll be more where that came from. Dickens’ Great Expectations is next up from the Peaky Blinders creator....

Atlus has released its streaming guidelines for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden and won’t be restricting content. Players are free to stream both games but the publisher requests players mark story sections with spoiler warnings. This is good news for fans of the series, considering Atlus was particularly tight with its Persona 5 streaming guidelines. Over the years, Pokémon has had a ton of characters come and go. Some of them stay for a while and join Ash on his journey for a bit, and others are gone before they really get to tell their story. May joined the cast during the Diamond & Pearl series and stayed with Ash and his friends for a pretty long time. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon will return in a remake of the original games, titled Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX for the Nintendo Switch (via Nintendo). In today’s Pokémon Direct, Nintendo revealed that the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team Blue and Red are getting a remake on their fifteenth anniversary. The original games were made for the Nintendo DS and the Game Boy Advance, respectively, and were a spin-off series that integrated roguelike elements to the core RPG features....
