Remedy Entertainment has staple-gunned a 2019 release window to its upcoming third-person action title, codenamed P7. According to a blurb from the company’s latest financial statement, production on the game has ‘progressed according to our plan’ and is now scheduled to hit stores at some point next year, though no further details were revealed. P7 is due out on PS4, PC, and Xbox One formats. Elsewhere, the Alan Wake creator confirmed that it’s also planning on rolling out an as-yet unannounced project in 2018, and is currently planning on staffing up for the game....

Since the official announcement of Resident Evil 3’s remake, many have been dissecting the trailer that was released during the most recent State of Play. From elements like the improved character models to many more components, people have shown acute attention toward the tiniest of details in the trailer and available footage, including evidence of the types of weapons that players may see in the game. Double Eleven and Ludeon Studios have announced they’re giving the latter’s space colony sim RimWorld a Console Edition next month. The PC version of Risen 3: Titan Lords is to be updated with improved graphics designed to take advantage of 64-bit operating systems, Deep Silver has announced. The announcement coincides with today’s release of the PS4 Enhanced Edition, which features improved visual effects, texture resolutions and reduced loading times over last year’s PS3 release. The 64-bit update for PC, meanwhile, also introduces improved texture resolution for “items, objects, foliage, terrain, particle effects, characters, monsters and other in-game models”, improved draw distance, frame rate optimisation and reduced LOD streaming, along with new bokeh depth of field, HDR bloom and a physically-based cloud rendering system....

Overwatch is a superhero story, and if there’s one thing superheroes adore doing in their marketing materials, it’s staring dramatically outward at something you can’t see. Modder Lance McDonald worked out how to break out of the house in P.T. to explore the streets of Silent Hills that are shown in the final cinematic (via Eurogamer). McDonald’s at it again with his elastic trickery within the bounds of P.T.—he previously discovered that the eerie Lisa is a very literal hanger-on and that the player is playing as Norman Reedus. P.T. and Silent Hills have been laid to rest as a result of the Konami and Hideo Kojima fallout, but it’s incredible that it still captures our fascinations five years on from the original demo....

The ghosts in Phasmophobia have evolved, and they’re more frightening than ever. Kinetic Games launched the April Phasmophobia beta update today, which made ghosts smarter and faster, thus increasing the ghost hunting sim’s challenge. Of course, just like previous beta updates, the devs made a ton of other adjustments, too. According to the patch notes on Twitter, the latest update implemented a series of changes to ghosts. For one thing, every ghost, with the exception of Revenants, will increase speed every time they spot you on a hunt....

Something called “Activities” has been revealed on the PlayStation 5, and it apparently starts up specific parts of a game directly from the console menu (via VGC). Gamereactor lifted the lid on this undisclosed feature of the console in its preview of racing title WRC 9. Of course, the preview is now gone, but it’s been archived here. According to Gamereactor, this Activities feature acts as an “instant deeplink to specific races directly from the console’s menu....

During a recent earnings call, GameStop CEO George Sherman indicated that there is currently no reason to believe that the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X will be delayed as a result of the coronavirus. “As for the impact on the new supply chain and manufacturing for the new consoles, we will continue to work with the console makers as the launch approaches,” Sherman says. “As of now, we have no indication of any impact on the product launch or delivery date, which is expected in time for holiday 2020....

The Season of Alola is the sixth game-wide season in Pokémon Go and it introduces the long awaited Gen 7. Though the game has already introduced Alolan forms in the past, last year Pokémon Go made the unusual step of skipping Gen 7 to focus on Gen 8 first - so it’s good to see the Alola region finally getting the spotlight. When it is released, based on previous seasons, you can also expect to find different Pokémon spawning in the wild depending on which hemisphere you live in, as well as new creatures in Eggs and Raids....
