PlayStation has announced it’ll be holding a new State of Play broadcast next week, on October 27. The PlayStation Blog doesn’t offer too many details on what we can expect, but does disclose the show will be approximately 20 minutes long. It also shares that it’ll mainly be focused on “updates on upcoming third-party games for PS4 and PS5” too. Presumably then, God of War: Ragnarok & Horizon: Forbidden West won’t be making an appearance....

PlayStation Plus Premium is a revamped version of Sony’s subscription service, which is turning into more of a Netflix-style service providing access to hundreds of games for a flat monthly fee. The service covers every PlayStation console - from the original PS1 to the PS5, as well as the PSP and, thanks to streaming, PS3 support. Now available in all territories, at launch the roster appears to be omitting some iconic franchises - there’s no Gran Turismo, for example - but there are plenty of classics from all generations to discover - from Jumping Flash!...

Totally Digital is a new PlayStation Store area which, as you might have worked out, is designed to promote the best in digital-only games. You’ll be able to easily view the best-sellers, the latest discounts and titles available to pre-order. In the Digital Discounts section look out for regular deals, with the next update coming on March 16. As a launch promotion Sony has also picked six upcoming digital titles which are available to pre-order with a 10 per cent saving on their launch price....

Ground-type Pokémon are known for being bulky, tanky units. They often have designs that focus on their solid stance and heavy weight. Pokémon like Groudon, Rhydon, and Golem are perfect examples of this. Each one is heavy-looking, solid, and hefty. There are Ground-type Pokémon that don’t match this aesthetic, of course, but they’re few and far between. Pokemon Legends Arceus is the latest entry in the popular Pokemon franchise, and it marks a rather radical departure from the typical series formula fans might be used to. The original games in the Pokemon series – Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow – are all coming to Nintendo 3DS on February 27, 2016, Nintendo has announced. Available to download via the Nintendo eShop, all three Virtual Console games will feature the original Game Boy versions’ graphics and sound, along with the option to battle and trade Pokemon wirelessly using the Nintendo 3DS’s Wi-Fi. Pokemon Red and Blue first launched on Game Boy back in 1996, with Yellow following up two years later in 1998....

Popular Overwatch League YouTuber itsjieyang has been hit with two copyright strikes from Blizzard Entertainment, prompting Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan to step in. Itsjieyang’s Overwatch patch videos are watched by thousands of people but the YouTuber had begun to post esports highlights from Overwatch League season three. On Twitter, itsjieyang posted a screenshot revealing details of a copyright strike that affected two Overwatch League highlight videos on YouTube. The post said that the videos had been “removed by Blizzard” and that it would run out in May....

It looks as though Ubisoft has delayed its upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, if reports from the studio’s Czech Republic Facebook page are accurate. The post announcing the delay itself was spotted by Eurogamer (and helpfully translated by ResetEra) and opened up by reminding fans of the remake’s reveal earlier this year before saying “Today we would like to inform you that we need more time to complete the game....

Hotline Miami was a great game. Its ’80s-inspired neon visuals and gameplay focused on fast, risky killing made it a huge hit, so understandably, people would want to replicate what made it work so well. Project Downfall from MGP Studios and Solid9 Studio, which entered Early Access in March, seeks to do just that in first-person. It’s got some big shoes to fill and there’s a lot of work to be done on its way to being finished....

Details on the contents of PS4 update 5.50 are finally starting to trickle in this afternoon, with Sony now sending out beta invites (via Resetera) that confirm the patch will implement supersampling. Sadly, there’s no mention of the much-requested ability to change your PSN ID just yet. Those of you lucky enough to have received invites for the beta will be able to test out this new feature soon enough, while everyone else will get their mitts on it when update 5....

PUBG Season 9 is lining up to be a big one for this popular battle royale. It is adding the game’s first dynamic map, Paramo, which will change every time you play it. The environment will be altered and named locations will appear on different parts of the map. However, Paramo was only going to be available to TPP (third-person perspective) PUBG players, not FPP (first-person perspective). Why? Well, it has something to do with…ah…you know… I have no idea....

At the end of last year, PUBG mentioned that a ping-based PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds matchmaking system would be put in place. This was partially in response to players getting frustrated with the volume of Chinese players on English speaking servers. While the community would rather have seen Chinese players ineligible to play on English speaking servers, it was not something PUBG wanted to pursue. The statement from PUBG reads: At this stage, it’s impossible to tell how successful this method of matchmaking will be but the test should at least give PUBG some idea....

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has launched a new test for the Sanhok map, and with it comes a curious new item: Gold treasure chests. The mysterious objects have popped up in a few locations on Sanhok, namely the rock formation by Bootcamp Alpha and the other in a forest to the northeast of the Ruins. No one knows what they’re for, as you can’t interact with them at the time of writing....

In the 1997 “anti-RPG” Moon: Remix RPG Adventure, players could go to the Technopolis area to play a minigame called “Xingiskan.” In this minigame, players had to guide a rocket toward a sphere by holding a button to go up, and letting it go to go down. A relatively simple concept, it posed quite a serious challenge for those who attempted it, especially since the physics of the rocket would change between rounds....
