Xbox Games head Phil Spencer has been spotted on Twitter playing an unannounced Xbox game, and we have no idea what it is. With all the hype surrounding the next-gen consoles, it’s sometimes easy to forget that there are still games in the pipeline waiting to be released on the current-gen. As with most next-gen releases, the current batch of games releasing this year is likely to be released first on the current generation of consoles before eventually porting to the new ones....

Nintendo has announced a new Pikmin game for Nintendo 3DS. Due for release in 2017, the game, which is simply being called ‘Pikmin’ for the time being, is slightly different to the overhead strategy games of old, instead offering up a side-scrolling platformer that sees Olimar using the alien creatures to move objects, battle creatures and overcome obstacles. Nintendo says that the game is being designed “with action in mind”....

Not too long ago, Dragon-type Pokémon were running rampant in the games. Their generally high stats and the sheer effectiveness and easy-spam nature of Dragon moves made them a dominant force to be reckoned with. These beasts were crushing opponents’ hopes and dreams into sad, salty shards of defeat with simple Outrage sweeps. Bethesda has announced the final update for Arkane Studios’ Prey, with Typon Hunter dropping next week with two new game modes including an Escape Room-style VR experience. Due out on December 11 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, Typhon Hunter adds a hide-and-seek multiplayer offering where five players control Mimics and hunt down one unlucky victim, who controls Morgan Yu. With the clock ticking, the player controller Yu must in turn hunt down the five Mimics, who are able to hide in plain sight as everyday objects....

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout also has a free pack available. Based on the third season, titled Winter Knockout, this pack contains a Slushie Bear costume and 6,500 kudos. This should make getting that in-game item you’ve had your eye on much easier. The pack will be gone fast, lasting only until February 15. A Queen of Hearts skin will be available in Apex Legends for Wraith. It is supposed to be the first in a set, so I imagine the other playing card suites will be following, well, suit....

Microsoft claims that Project Scarlett could possess the greatest library of any Xbox system due to the hardware’s backwards compatibility and a host of first-party studios (via Game Rant). Backwards compatibility is a feature that the PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett share. However, head of Microsoft Game Studios Matt Booty elaborated in an interview that Microsoft’s hardware would prioritise the legacy of the Xbox. Although customers will be forking out what I imagine may be a chunk of cash for Project Scarlett, their purchase will invest in the future and the past....

PS4 Pro’s ability to render games at a native 4K resolution will be limited to a minority of titles, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Andrew House has acknowledged. But even so, he doesn’t believe it’s misleading to call the new system a 4K-capable console. “I would say the majority [of games running at 4K on PS4 Pro] will be upscaled – at least based on the game portfolio I have seen to date,” House told Digital Spy....

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds may have gotten off to a bit of a crap start on Xbox One, but the game’s issues clearly weren’t enough to put punters off the multiplayer juggernaut. Quite the opposite in fact, as it’s now been confirmed the game has notched up over three million players on Microsoft’s box. The Big M announced the news on Xbox Wire, confirming that PUBG passed the milestone at the end of 2017 after previously nabbing one million players in just 48 hours....

Following nearly endless rumors, Capcom confirmed the Resident Evil 4 remake with a trailer during today’s PlayStation: State of Play. The game also got a March 2023 release date, so there’s still quite some time before we can take Leon Kennedy out for another trip to that infamous Spanish village. The trailer makes it clear that this is a remake of Resident Evil 4, and not a fancy remaster. We see some new cutscenes between Leon and apparently the president of the US, whose daughter was kidnapped....

UPDATE – 02/12/2015: A new “multi plaftorm” rating for Resident Evil 6 has appeared on the Australian Classifications Board and, while PS4 and Xbox One are not directly named, the timing of it suggests we could be due an announcement soon.
