QuakeCon, the Bethesda-run games convention inspired by id Software’s classic, will be a digital-only event again this year. Previously held in-person in Dallas, Texas, the impact of the pandemic means this won’t be possible, at least for this year. The convention will take place digitally from 18th - 20th August. “Like you, we’re disappointed to not return to Dallas this year. An event of this size requires months of planning, and in this case, we had to make decisions when there was still too much uncertainty to commit to successfully executing an in-person QuakeCon,” reads a statement shared on Twitter....

Rainbow Six Extraction, formerly known as Rainbow Six Quarantine, may have just had its release date revealed — on accident. Rainbow Six Quarantine was first revealed at E3 2019, and was set to release in 2020. But then, 2020 happened, and a game titled “Quarantine” seemed in very bad taste. With the COVID-19 pandemic just beginning, and real life lockdowns and quarantines taking place around the world, Ubisoft wisely decided to delay the game and think of a new title....

It looks like Ubisoft may have inadvertently leaked the release date of upcoming shooter Rainbow Six Extraction. As spotted by Video Games Chronicle, a blog post originally made back in June has been quietly updated to read January 20. When the post was originally written the game was set to launch in September. However, about a month later it was delayed, although Ubisoft has, until now, only offered a “January” window for the launch....

Rainbow Six Siege’s multiplayer beta will run at 1080p on PS4 and 900p on Xbox One, Ubisoft has confirmed. The game is expected to run at 60fps on both platforms. On PC, the beta will vary between 720p and 1080p “depending on your configuration”. Full system requirements can be found here. Ubisoft is still working on optimising the game between now and release, however, suggesting it may be able to boost the Xbox One version’s resolution in time for launch....

Many took umbrage with the fact there were no video streaming apps available on the Nintendo Switch at launch. Speaking with The Washington Post, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that Nintendo wanted Switch owners to focus on the games, rather than binge-watching Crazy Ex Girlfriend. While Fils-Aime, in the interview, states that things like Netflix aren’t what differentiates Nintendo from their competitors, it seems strange to launch a console in 2017 without any of these apps from the get-go....

Twitch streamer and former professional League of Legends player Maria “Remilia” Creveling has passed away at the young age of 24. She achieved an impressive esports career, and built a legacy as the first woman to compete in the League of Legends Championship Series. She passed in her sleep, as confirmed by her close friend, esports journalist Richard Lewis. Maria “Remilia” Creveling entered the professional League of Legends scene in 2013 as Curse Academy’s support player....

Renovation simulator House Flipper appears to have quietly dropped on Xbox Game Pass. First spotted on the XboxSeriesX subreddit, the game was listed on the “Recently added” selection despite no official announcement by Microsoft. The official store page for the game on Xbox confirms that the game is indeed on Game Pass. The indie sim was first released on PC back in 2018 before being ported over to last-gen consoles in 2020....

Resonance of Fate is getting spruced up for PC and PlayStation 4 in 4K, developer tri-Ace has announced. Due out as a digital download on October 18, Resonance of Fate 4K/HD is pretty much what you’d expect, offering enhanced visuals over the original JRPG, which launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. Resonance of Fate was inspired by numerous Western action films such as The Matrix, and is best remembered for its Steampunk setting and gun-toting combat system that married real-time and turn-based controls....

Following yesterday’s news about the Phantasy Star Online 2 Steam launch date, Sega has more information today. The Steam release includes exclusive Valve content from the popular Half-Life and Team Fortress franchises. Phantasy Star Online 2 Steam players can soon dress up as some of the iconic characters from popular Valve games. The preview trailer showed off several appearances such as Gordon Freeman himself. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is an isometric RPG in the vein of games like Baldur’s Gate and Divinity: Original Sin 2. The game has made the jump from PC to consoles, which has brought some major technical issues that keep pulling an incredible RPG down under the water. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire eschews the traditional fantasy setting used by many RPGs for one that rarely appears in gaming.
