The Rusev-Lana-Lashley love triangle, for instance, has McMahon written all over it. WWE’s return to enhancement matches, particularly on RAW, is almost surely the work of Paul Heyman....

Over the last few months, Atlus has slowly been working its way towards a date for the western release of Persona 5 Royal. The developer hasn’t reached a definite answer to give fans; nevertheless, Persona 5 Royal’s release window narrowed following an announcement at the Atlus Art Show in Los Angeles. Royal is the revamp of critically-acclaimed RPG Persona 5, which will see players exploring a third school semester packed full of new features, areas, and characters, including a notable new addition Kasumi Yoshizawa, a transfer student and rhythmic gymnast....

PES 2017 will launch this autumn for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, Konami has announced. This year’s game is built around the tagline “Control Reality”, promising “interactive reality in both control and its new standard of authentic visuals”. The key changes to the on-pitch experience include: Real Touch – See how different players control the ball in unique and different ways based on where and how you control them, dictating the flow of the game based on how they react to the unpredictable movement of the ball....

China has banned Swedish YouTube superstar PewDiePie for comparing Chinese President Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh. The ban comes amid a wave of controversy surrounding international chilling effects resulting from Chinese censorship efforts within the sports, entertainment and gaming worlds. According to PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, the ban stems from an Oct. 16 video in which he shared and commented on a meme featuring the popular icon....

One of the many benefits of playing games in Early Access is experiencing how they grow and improve over time. That’s been the case with Kinetic Games’ spooky, ghost-hunting title Phasmophobia, which has seen a deluge of updates since entering Early Access in 2020. And it’s not slowing down yet. One of the more frustrating parts of the game is about to get a complete revamp. In a developer preview today, the Phasmophobia team unveiled its plan for an updated in-game shop and shed some light on the new asylum map....

Panic has announced pre-orders for its handheld console-with-a-crank known as the Playdate will go live on July 29. The company notes that the first batch of around 20,000 consoles should ship in late 2021 with further orders shipping in late 2022. Production in 2022 will be tweaked based on demand, and units are limited to two per person. You’ll need to pay in full at the point of pre-order, but you’ll be able to cancel any time for a full refund....

It seems last week’s news that Microsoft and Sony are to work together on ‘cloud based solutions for gaming experiences’ was as much a surprise to many at PlayStation as it was to the rest of us. It’s official: Pokémon generation nine is on the way. Announced at the Pokémon Direct at the weekend, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released later this year. The new trailer introduced the three starter Pokémon we’ll be able to choose from, namely Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. Already, social media has been awash with fan art and memes depicting these brand new ‘mon. When fans tuned in to The Game Awards 2019, it’s safe to say that no one expected to see a PlayStation 5 game. However, fans were treated to their first look at the first-confirmed PlayStation 5 console exclusive title in Godfall, which is developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox. The so-called looter-slasher was revealed with a CGI trailer that set up the game world and general tone of the game, but the developer has since released a GIF that offers a look at the combat....

In particular, a whole new host of tabletop RPGS and miniatures games have cropped up to offer some variety to the classic Dungeons & Dragons formula....
