WayForward, the developer behind Silent Hill: Book of Memories, Shantae, and other hits just dropped River City Girls on September 5th. The game is a followup to the River City series and it’s already racked up some pretty positive reviews on Steam. Players praised its plot, art style, soundtrack, and controls. Others were happy to see some very special guests appearances from the Game Grumps. The game calls itself “an old-school rumble for a new generation” and with the way it looks and feels, that’s pretty accurate....

Conatus Creative, the developer of River City Ransom: Underground has responded to the delisting of its game from Steam, a result of a DMCA (digital millennium copyright act) strike filed by co-composer Alex Mauer. Mauer has said that Conatus Creative doesn’t have the rights to use the music she created, although she worked with the game’s developers and composers. She claims she didn’t give permission for the use of her music....

With 2020 (thankfully) drawing to a close, all eyes are on the future. For us here at PC Invasion though, our eyes are on the future of games as well. Despite 2020 being the dumpster fire that it was, we got a lot of great games this year that made it just a little more bearable. But we also have some anticipated games coming in 2021. While life won’t be returning to normal as soon as the calendar hits January, there is certainly more optimism than there has been in the past few months....

Bully 2 remains one of the most requested games under the Rockstar umbrella, although as far as we know, nothing is in the pipeline. Or is it? People are getting a bit excited this morning, as a casting call made by Jessica Jefferies (via Rockstar Intel) has indicated that maybe, possibly, Rockstar is in fact working on a follow-up to its thuggish open-world actioner. The call is for seven individuals and pertains to a ’new unannounced video game title with a leading UK games developer, shooting at Pinewood Studios....

The European closed beta for the PS4 edition of PlanetSide 2 will begin on March 25, Daybreak Games and Sony have announced. You can register over on the game’s website in order to be eligible to receive a beta voucher that you can use to access the PlanetSide 2 closed beta test via PlayStation Store. PlanetSide 2 is a massive scale FPS in which players battle across four massive continents in games which can last hours, days and even weeks....

Sony’s latest financial results have revealed the company has sold 19.3 million PlayStation 5 consoles as of March 31, 2022. As spotted by Gematsu, two million extra units of PlayStation 5 consoles have moved since the previous update in February. However, it does mean that the company has fallen short of its original target of 22.6 million consoles. The company made the forecast back in August, but adjusted its prediction by that aforementioned February update....

Sony has now sold 2m units of its PlayStation 5 console in the UK, despite a recent price hike. It took 98 weeks to reach this number, in-line with sales of the PS3 and making it the joint fourth fastest-selling console in the UK. Since launch, the console has been hampered with stock shortage issues and remains in high demand. That’s despite a price increase for UK consumers of £30 back in August, which Sony blamed on inflation....

PlayStation has announced it’ll be adding VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support to the PlayStation 5 this week. As previously revealed, the feature allows the console to dynamically sync the refresh rate of a display when playing games. By doing this, gameplay feels smoother as it minimizes visual artefacts like screen tearing. It also helps to reduce input lag, and on optimised titles allows for a clearer image on a compatible HDMI 2....

The PlayStation 5 will run “almost all” of the top 100 PlayStation 4 games from launch, due to a neat trick in the new console’s hardware. PlayStation 5 lead system architect Mark Cerny gave an overall appraisal of the console’s technical capabilities yesterday; read all about it here. The talk was initially to be debuted at GDC 2020, but its cancellation meant that Cerny live streamed his presentation instead. It was certainly a conversation filled with lots of important letters and numbers, but it did shed some light on the backwards compatibility of the PlayStation 5....

Celesteela, one of the 11 Ultra Beasts, can now be battled in Pokémon Go. The Ultra Beasts are a group of extradimensional Pokémon who entered the Pokémon universe during Gen 7. The first Ultra Beast to make an appearance in Pokémon Go was Nihilego as part of the first Go Fest event in 2022; Kartana, meanwhile, was originally released during Season of Light alongside Kartana in September 2022 as a regional exclusive....

The Pokémon Company International has announced Pokémon Home will get its 2.0 update in the early hours of tomorrow morning. The update will finally add support for the three most recent games in the popular series; Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Once updated, players will be able to store their collected creatures in the cloud and share them between Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee and mobile entry Pokémon Go....
