Roguelites have been a staple genre in modern gaming for quite some time now, but developers Systemic Reaction are looking to stand out with their latest project, Ravenbound. A focus on a unique fantasy world inspired by Scandinavian folklore that features intense combat, a deck-building mechanic, and the freedom to choose how you want to play. Just hearing about these features is intriguing enough, but thanks to a hands-off presentation by the developers, it seems that Ravenbound is well placed to fulfill its open-world roguelite promise, at least at this early stage....

Nearly one year after its initial console launch, Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally making its way to PC players. The announcement comes about a week after an accidental posting of the PC ratings classification appeared online from the Australian Classification Board. With the cat now officially out of the bag, Rockstar Games is attempting to sweeten the pot for players who choose to purchase the game on the PC with all sorts of pre-order bonuses as well as a free game....

As devastating to some as this may sound, Capcom did not confirm a remake of Resident Evil 4 during its Resident Evil Showcase today. However, that doesn’t mean the famous 2005 survival horror game was completely left out of the show. Other than the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness movie taking place two years after the game, there was something else. Coming in as a complete surprise is a virtual reality version of Resident Evil 4, set to release on the Oculus Quest 2 this year....

Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2’s soundtrack will be released on vinyl this spring, thanks to Capcom buddying up with Laced Records. Both scores have been completely remastered for their vinyl release, and have been squeezed onto ‘audiophile heavyweight deluxe double-vinyl 180g LPs.’ The soundtracks were composed by Capcom’s sound team, featuring Masami Ueda, Makoto Tomozawa, and Akira Kaida. It’s worth noting that the score for Resident Evil is based on the 2002 GameCube remake, as opposed to the original 1996 version....

Respawn Entertainment has given another of its regular developer updates over the weekend, and the developer has given some insight into how the popular battle royale shooter intends to deal with preventing cheating in the game, particularly after the launch of the recent ranked seasons playlist. As Eurogamer spotted, Community Manager Jay Frechette took to Reddit to give a little visibility into how the developer is keeping an eye on cheaters, including using ‘machine learning to create behavior models that detect and auto ban cheaters....

When Farscape was canceled shortly before filming completed on season four in 2003, writer David Prowse, creator Rockne O’Bannon, and director Andrew Prowse had a decision to make. Having thought they would be getting a fifth season for the Jim Henson Company-produced science fiction series, they had ended season four on a cliffhanger. In the latest slew of canceled eSports events this year, Activision-Blizzard has officially canceled Overwatch League events for the next two months. A Twitter post announced that due to increasing concern over the Coronavirus, Overwatch League will postpone events for the time being. In a tweet, Overwatch officials have said that only the events planned for March and April have been suspended to protect the health and safety of its players....

Overwatch was the best-selling game in the UK last month, overtaking Uncharted 4 and DOOM at the top of the monthly charts. According to industry mag MCV, sales of Blizzard’s shooter increased by 20% month-on-month, resulting in the game climbing two places to No.1. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, meanwhile, was the second best-selling game of the month, despite only launching on June 28. DOOM, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and FIFA 16 round out the top 5....

Sony has said it’s “not unthinkable” it will now develop film or TV versions of FromSoftware games following its recent increase in ownership of the Japanese developer. At the end of August, both Sony and Chinese publisher Tencent increased their shareholding in the Elden Ring and Soulsbourne studio. Sony now owns just over 14 percent. Now, speaking to Reuters, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst has said the purchase opened up the possibility of FromSoftware properties getting the PlayStation Productions treatment....

PlayStation TV sales appear to have skyrocketed following the device’s price cut earlier this week. Sony officially dropped the price of PlayStation TV by almost 50 per cent on Friday, reducing it from £84.99 to £44.99. PlayStation TV allows users to play select PS Vita, PSP and PSOne titles directly through the device provided they have a compatible controller, or stream PS4 titles to another TV within the same home....

On Wednesday morning, Pokémon released another reveal trailer for the upcoming Sword and Shield games, including a new form for Weezing that, to put it simply, really makes it look a lot like a bong. The new Galarian form of the first generation Pokémon, which gives it two stove “pipe” hats, changes Weezing from a pure poison-type to fairy-poison, making it a stronger Pokémon for a competitive battles. The announcement led to a massive wave of internet reactions, though it most likely wasn’t due to the Pokémon’s type change....

Pokemon GO is just about ready to launch the first phase of Gen 5 and introduce the Uvona Pokemon into the mobile game, but there is a little more work to finish in the game’s code before that can help. The next major milestone seems to be finished, now that dataminers have confirmed that every Gen V Pokemon move sets can now be found in the game’s code. Although Niantic will slowly rollout the Gen 5 creatures into Pokemon GO in waves, it makes sense to add all of the code and moves for the creatures at the same time....
