PUBG: Battlegrounds received an update for the live game on PC and consoles today, bringing the game’s ninth map with new features, another battle pass, and more. The biggest addition in the update is the new map called Deston, an 8x8km space that contains a variety of environments such as mountains, swamps, an outdoor concert venue, a hydroelectric dam, and a city. The official PUBG website is even hosting a tour of all the different biomes that can be viewed in virtual reality....

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, a new entry in the form of Puzzle & Dragons Nintendo Switch Edition has been announced by GungHo Online Entertainment. Obviously, as the name suggests, the game is set to launch for the Nintendo Switch via the eShop on February 19 at $4.37. The match-3 puzzle title will feature different modes for both single and multiplayer, delivering a roleplaying title that combines with its puzzling roots. The game will support several languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese, with Puzzle & Dragons Nintendo Switch Edition pre-orders being available now....

Back in August, Bethesda announced during QuakeCon that Quake Champions would go free-to-play. The writings on the wall had more or less indicated to many that it would eventually go that route. With Halloween quickly approaching, Rainbow Six Siege is joining in on the seasonal fun with a Halloween event of its own. In a new limited-time event titled Doktor’s Curse, Rainbow Six Siege will look to build upon last year’s Halloween-themed event, Mad House, and will throw players into a multiplayer hide-and-seek game mode pitting Exterminators against Monsters in a haunted house revamp of the Theme Park map. Much like last year’s Quarantine event, players will have to take advantage of new weapons, set new traps, and face off against creeping threats....

There’s a considerable chance that we may see Rainbow Six Siege become free-to-play soon, joining games like Fortnite and Apex Legends in offering a free of charge experience with optional in-game purchases. The game’s director, ra Rainbow Six Siege was originally released back in December 2015, but still maintains a solid online community today. The game currently retails for around $30, with a digital download cost of just under $10, but Athanassoff hopes to get rid of those costs all together....

The Order: 1886 developer Ready at Dawn has brought former Blizzard COO Paul Sams on board as CEO in a plan which aims to see the Californian studio retain ownership of its own IPs. Co-founder and current CEO Ru Weerasuriya will become chief creative officer. “Paul’s expertise will be essential in achieving some of our goals, including our desire to seek a strategic partner in helping us create and retain ownership of our own transmedia IPs,” commented Weerasuriya....

We are currently mid-way through the fifth and final season of Warzone as we know it. As players look ahead to Warzone 2, more leaks have emerged about what the game could entail. The latest leak points towards Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep being removed from Warzone in November. Call of Duty: Warzone has always had large, traditional battle royale maps located in Verdansk and then Caldera. There is no doubt that Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best open world games out there. The 2018 Game of the Year Nominee not only raised the bar for open world games in general, but also managed to surprise many with its story, game details, and accuracy. The game recently released for PC, having previously only been available for PS4 and Xbox One owners. Although the game unsurprisingly performs much better on PC than on consoles, this of course allows modders to add various mods into it, as well as give data miners the opportunity to dig through files and uncover hidden resources....

Much as in the Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 allows players to wreak lots of havoc including with a series of wild mods. Most recently, one player wrought havoc by shooting the sheriffs in Red Dead Redemption 2 and capturing each with a screenshot. Red Dead Redemption 2 player Alex Tanaka morbidly captured a variety of pictures of sheriff homicide by using a meticulous method. He would capture the sheriffs in their respective towns, take them to a scenic location, and proceed to shoot them dead with a handgun....

Red Dead Redemption 2 will weigh in at approximately 88.57GB for Xbox One, a listing on the Microsoft Store has confirmed. Just a few weeks ago it was revealed that PlayStation 4 users would have to free up 105GB to accommodate the sprawling Wild West prequel. The Microsoft Store listing doesn’t specify if the number pertains to the download size or install size; there is a difference, as the former is grabbed from the game’s servers and are often compressed....

Rockstar Games bigwig Dan Houser has estimated that Red Dead Redemption 2 will take players around 65 hours to complete. Speaking during an interview with Vulture, Houser also confirmed that the game had around five hours worth of content cut. This includes a second love interest for protagonist Arthur Morgan, and a mission where you had to take on bounty hunters on a train. Ultimately, he felt that some of these were not ‘quite slick enough, or they felt superfluous....

It’s Resident Evil 2, Jim, but not as we know it. There are some changes being made around here. Whether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen. So, yes, we’ve known for some time that Resident Evil 2 was being remade. Fans had clamored (read: sent petitions and whined on message boards) for this for years, ever since the beautiful GameCube take on the original game was released....

When working your way through Moreau’s watery swamp pit in Resident Evil Village, players were reportedly once set to encounter a range of new creatures, including mermaids. But as is to be expected from a Resident Evil game, these mermaids were not going to be the Disney princess versions akin to the likes of Ariel and her family. Rather, they were going to be a (literal) monstrous pain for Ethan Winters and players....
