In the great console war, PlayStation has won the current generation by a landslide. In sales alone, the PlayStation 4 has managed to sell more than twice as many units as the Xbox One. It was exactly the few years Sony needed after arguably losing the generation prior to that, despite the PS3 narrowly outselling the Xbox 360....

Square Enix and Luminous Productions have announced Project Athia, an out of this world action adventure for PC and PlayStation 5. In last night’s The Future of Gaming event, we only got the shortest of snippets of Project Athia in its reveal trailer. Nevertheless, it looks astonishing, and its world is artistically captivating and terrifying in equal measure. Those wolves are especially awesome. “Project Athia will harness the full power of the console and demonstrates Luminous Productions’ philosophy to provide a gaming experience like never before, fusing together the latest technology with art,” said Square Enix in a press release....

Tomorrow is a big day for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds as it finally leaves Early Access with the 1.0 release. PUBG are now getting ready for launch. In preparation for the release, PUBG will be resetting the leaderboards tonight at 6PM PST / 3 AM CET (20th). This will usher in a new season when 1.0 finally launches. PUBG says that a an update will be posted “soon” with the 1.0 schedule....

Quantic Dream, developer of Detroit: Become Human, Beyond Two Souls, and Heavy Rain, has been found guilty of breaching security obligations to its employees due to “passivity” towards its problematic work culture (via Resetera). The company had been accused of creating a space wherein “homophobic, misogynistic, racist, or deeply vulgar” images of collaborators and employees could be shared without repercussions. Quantic Dream denied these claims and stated that “inappropriate conduct or practices have no place” in the studio, levying a defamation lawsuit against the media outlets who ran the report....

Although the two games were released four years apart, the amount of PC gamers playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam is just about the same as the amount as those playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt through the same service. The amount of players currently playing The Witcher 3 currently sits 30,00, peaking at approximately 50,000 players. This is about equal to the number of players playing Red Dead Redemption 2....

Microsoft and Bethesda kicked things off during their showcase today to show off even more gameplay footage of Redfall, Arkane’s brand new cooperative first-person shooter title. It continues to look like a really solid shooter game, and you can check out the new trailer down below: The trailer gives us a closer look at both the supernatural and human enemies in the game. The vampires do look genuinely terrifying, with the ability to block out the sun when they’re around....

The Final Fantasy series has been an absolute roller coaster for fans. One minute the franchise is going in bold and new directions and the next players are slogging through a meaningless game of social activities with very little fighting. Through it all the fan base has been churning out a massive collection of memes. While there are some any gamer can appreciate or understand, there are many that only those who’ve been dedicated to the games will truly appreciate....

Whether it be main game or spin-off, the Resident Evil franchise has always had a consistency problem. From as early as Resident Evil: Director’s Cut, it was evident that while the series could easily hit the highest of heights, there was no real sense for quality control. Resident Evil 2 helped legitimize the series even further in spite of this, but RE3 and Code Veronica muddied the waters again. The cycle repeated with 4 through 6, and will seemingly repeat again with 7 onward....

Resident Evil 2 has already been modded to accommodate the classic fixed camera angles of the 90s games, and now someone has managed to give the survival horror revamp a first-person makeover. The mod is for the PC version of Resi 2, and in its current state obviously has yet to iron out a few bugs, but it still looks pretty cool. If you thought the remake should have gone the way of Resi 7 and used a first-person view, then this should satisfy your curiosity....

Capcom has released a grisly new batch of Resident Evil 2 gameplay footage, giving us our first look at the Lickers in action. You remember those guys, right? They’re basically Resi 2’s answer to the Hunters from the first game, packing razor-sharp claws and an exorbitantly long tongue. Their brains are also exposed, which is lovely. Needless to say, the Lickers are looking mighty impressive in Capcom’s updated Resident Evil 2, with the spruced up visuals giving them a far more grotesque appearance than before....

Resident Evil 3 has been on the tip of every horror fan’s tongue since the Resident Evil 2 Remake launched earlier this year. With Capcom knocking it out of the park lately, fans are rightfully excited to see the prospect of a Resident Evil 3 Remake coming around the corner to improve on the series in the same ways its predecessor did. Following the recent leak involving Resident Evil 3’s big bad Nemesis, players have been rushing to talk about and speculate on when the remake could be arriving and what it might look like behind the cover art....

Titanfall and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has revealed it’s building a whole new IP from scratch for a future project thanks to a job listing that went live over the weekend. As retweeted by studio head Vince Zampella, the job listing for an ‘Incubation Team Software Engineer’ states that the studio is looking to add to a currently-five person team and join a “compact incubation team currently developing a new IP” with Zampella calling it an “exciting new opportunity....

You should learn how to return to your ship in Returnal. Doing this will help you to restore and rebuild your lost energy after a run. This will also allow you to save and stock up on your consumables which you can use later on when you’re completing a mission. You can obviously also return to the ship if you die, as the game resets the loop, but then you lose out on all the resources that you have collected till then....

Overwatch 2 Game Director Jeff Kaplan compares the game’s player versus environment missions, or PvE, to World of Warcraft. The Overwatch 2 PvE mode is one of the biggest reasons fans are excited about the new game and offers them a chance to learn more about the characters and their relationships. In a post on the official Blizzard forums, Kaplan was asked if Overwatch 2 is a PvE or PvP game....

Paradox Interactive, the makers of several beloved strategy franchises, such as Crusader Kings and Stellaris, is currently readjusting its own company strategy. Ebba Ljunderud has stepped down as company CEO, effective immediately. However, she’ll stay on at the company for a little while so that the transfer of power goes forward without hitting any snags. Despite the way such splits tend to go, reports indicate that this move is devoid of any animosity, and that the former CEO and company are still on good terms....

Developer Error 404 Game Studios has been hard at work in developing Obey Me, a cooperative holy-punk brawler where players need to fight their way through demons, mutants, and angelical machines. Visitors at PAX East will have the opportunity to check out the game in a couple of week and will be able to take control of Venessa Held, powerful Soul Huntress in the struggle against evil, and best of all, her sidekick is an “adorable” Hellhound named Monty....

Konami has announced that PES 2019 will launch on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One this summer with a boatload of new features. FC Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho will grace the cover, though there’s a special edition featuring David Beckham in the pipeline too. This year’s outing of The Beautiful Game will up the ante in terms of player individuality, with new skill traits allowing gamers to score Magic Moments on the pitch, something which is meant to be at the forefront of the action this time around....
