Ubisoft has announced that tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege will be opening its doors free to PS4, PC, and Xbox One owners next week. The taster will kick off on February 15 and runs until February 18 for PC, February 19 for Xbox One, and February 20 for PS4. Magical monster collector Re:Legend, currently in Early Access on Steam, is getting a huge free update on December 20. Rebellion, creators of the Sniper Elite games, is growing and expanding… again. As one of its first announcements of the new year, the company has acquired the Yorkshire based studio TickTock Games. The studio has a long history of games across PCs, consoles, and mobile devices. Some of its most recent work with Rebellion include Rogue Trooper Redux and porting Battlezone Gold Edition to the Nintendo Switch. TickTock will be become Rebellion North, making them the fourth game studio in Rebellions repertoire....

Take-Two has announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped 17 million copies worldwide since its launch on October 26 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Even though this figure represents the number of units shipped to retailers, rather than copies in the hands of consumers, it’s still an impressive figure seeing as how it hasn’t even been out for two weeks. The news comes alongside an update for GTA 5, with the crime opus having now shipped an earth-shattering 100 million copies globally....

The best part about playing puzzle games is the fact that they can take place pretty much anywhere. Even recently, games like Felix the Reaper put players in the role of Felix, a grim reaper of sorts. The puzzles surrounded elements of death, manipulating light and shadow to reach a level’s goal. Location and environment in these types of puzzle games can create a whole litany of problems to maneuver and solve....

Housemarque has announced that the free Returnal: Ascension DLC is now available to download on PlayStation 5. If you’ve not kept up, the free expansion adds a couple of major new features to the excellent 2021 shooter. They include an endless survival mode known as Tower of Sisyphus, and adds online co-op play to the main campaign. It’s the latter that’s the focus of a new PlayStation Blog post published to mark the DLC’s release....

Housemarque’s Returnal was the big winner at this year’s 2022 BAFTA Game Awards, taking home four trophies including Best Game. The sci-fi shooter also cleaned up in the audio categories, taking home prizes in Audio Achievement & Music at the event. Jane Perry also won the Performer in a Leading Role award for her portrayal of the game’s hero Selene. It also wasn’t the only PlayStation exclusive to take home multiple trophies last night either....

Ever since Nintendo released the NES, they have been experimenting with exercise equipment and motion controls from the Power Pad to the Wii Remote. Their first big breakthrough, in terms of actually creating a big hype around fitness, was the Wii Balance Board. While good for toning the body, it was also pretty boring and was an exercise regiment disguised as a video game. Their next big experiment, Ring Fit Adventure for the Nintendo Switch, is the opposite....

Riot Games recently dropped a new lore cinematic that gave players a taste of what’s really going down in the world of Valorant. The cinematic is titled Duality and, along with the trailer, Riot also released a free Player Card for Valorant players to claim. Originally, the card was only going to be available for 48 hours from the release of the Duality trailer. However, due to technical issues, this time limit has been removed for now....

The wait to play the old-school beat ’em-up River City Girls 2 is finally close to its end. While the game was delayed from its summer 2022 window back in August, Wayforward has finally announced a new release date for both North America and Europe, and it’s very close. River City Girls 2 will hit the digital shelves on Dec. 15, 2022, only nine days away. It’ll launch on basically everything that has a chip, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam....

D-Pad Studio has staple-gunned a release date to the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Owlboy, confirming the gravity-defying platformer will be released digitally on April 10. If you prefer to own a physical copy of the game you can do so, but it’ll mean waiting until May 29, when the game will hit brick-and-mortar retailers for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The title was originally released on PC in November 2016 and became something of a critical darling, so it’s probably something you’ll want to keep on your radar....

A bug in Paper Mario: The Origami King has been discovered which prevents players from completing the game (via Nintendo Life). Gaming Reinvented stumbled upon the unfortunate issue. It occurs in the Shangri Spa area, when the player is travelling to the four spas to access the fifth spa. However, when the NPC guarding the entrance asks to see the membership card required to enter, this item is removed from the player’s inventory....

PAX West 2019 is filled with exciting previews of games to come, and Bungie has taken the opportunity to show off its new and upcoming content for Destiny 2, with a couple of exotic weapons found in the player’s Exotics tab. The first exotic appears to bee a rocket launcher named Deathbringer. Little is known about this right now other than the weapon appears to create Void orbs. As expected, it states its source as an Exotic quest of challenge and reads, “Dark Deliverance: Fires remotely detonated projectiles that drop Void orbs on enemies....

There is so much to love about PAX West: the sneak peaks, the amazing booth installations, the camaraderie, the merch. But if you’re like me, the best part is the free stuff. Incentives are often the best way to lure attendees to your game, as there are hundreds of demos available and only so many hours in a day. Some swag is given away just for visiting the booth, while other require some kind of social media engagement....
