Rebellion has acquired the brand and IP portfolio of legendary British games developer The Bitmap Brothers. According to the press release, what this means is that we’ll see classic Bitmap Brothers games coming to new platforms. Better yet, there are plans to create new titles based on the Bitmaps’ licenses. This is very, very exciting if you’re a British person of a certain age, or a retro gamer with a focus on the Amiga or Atari ST....
A new official trailer for Arkane Studio’s upcoming title, Redfall, was released earlier today, showing off more of the vampire hunting gameplay and the town where it all takes place. There’s nothing necessarily new shown in the trailer, but it gives us another look at the dark multiplayer shooter. And if you still aren’t sure about the game’s concept, it does a good job of explaining that. The game centers on a group of survivors that have to face off against a legion of vampires....
Rejoice, indeed. It seems the guys over at EA have dropped some juicy tidbits in a company earnings call by saying that there will be something “far-reaching” for Mass Effect in Q4 of fiscal 2010 (which translates to early 2011, don’t ask me why). What the heat-sink? Now, this is obviously open to interpretation, as they didn’t go into anything specific. It could be anything from another iPhone game, to a full expansion for Mass Effect 2, or even a large chunk of DLC....
The first teaser trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has been released by Sony Pictures Entertainment, taking fans of the movie and game franchises back to Raccoon City. “Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead,” reads the movie’s blurb. “Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse....
Capcom has revealed more of the changes you can expect in their upcoming remake of Resident Evil 3, including some significant alterations to how the Nemesis works. Resident Evil 7 and Devil May Cry 5 might be re-released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, according to an industry insider. When Twitter user GrandCookieZX asked for an update on whether Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 7 would come to the next generation of consoles, Dusk Golem had an interesting answer. Former PS4 exclusive Rime has been rated for multiple platforms by the Brazilian Advisory Board, including PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. As spotted by Gematsu, the game was certified for multiple platforms earlier today, with more details expected to arrive in 2017. Formerly due to be published by Sony, developer Tequila Works reacquired the rights to Rime back in March, before announcing that it had partnered with Grey Box later in the year....
It’s truly rare for me to find a game that makes me feel the way Ring of Pain does. On one hand, I love its gameplay loop. Upgrading stats, scoring loot, fighting monsters, and taking risks are rarely as compelling and satisfying as they are here. But the game is also horribly unfair in ways that can’t be overstated. In spite of that, it nails the “one more run” incentive better than most, but anyone turned off by having the decks quite literally stacked against them might find it too infuriating to be worth sinking time into....
During a Livestream event to celebrate the 10th anniversary for League of Legends, developer Riot Games announced a few new projects it has been working on. One of those was Project A, a character-based, competitive, tactical FPS for PC. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Overwatch, this brand new shooter will feature a cast of characters that each have unique abilities and equipment. That’s no surprise given how much more interesting the Gryphons & Gargoyles storyline and the promise of Farm mayhem to come are. What is something of a headscratcher however is the rapid nature of how swiftly Archie was exonerated for his crimes and Sheriff Minetta was put away (off screen, natch) for his general pain in the assery/witness coercion....

Update, December 3, 4.53pm: “Show me your true form!” Persona 5 Royal will release on March 31, 2020 for the PlayStation 4 in Western territories, as announced through the PlayStation Blog. Back in January 2020, Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg took his first break from YouTube in 10 years, and apparently, the popular YouTube content creator is preparing to take another brief hiatus from the platform. PewDiePie confirmed during a recent video that he will be taking a week-long break from YouTube as he’s been waiting for months for the upcoming Minecraft update. Minecraft’s “Caves & Cliffs” update released on June 8, which is when PewDiePie’s Summer break began....
By this time next year, Project Scarlett will likely be available to Xbox fans everywhere. However, it appears that Microsoft’s gaming executive vice president Phil Spencer has already got his hands on a unit ahead of its 2020 release. In a tweet, Spencer indicated that Project Scarlett is currently his system of choice now that it’s in his home. Pixel Noir, the JRPG-flavoured detective romp from developer SWDTech, will be coming to Switch in addition to the previously confirmed PS4, PC, and Xbox One versions. The game will hit Ninty’s hybrid powerhouse day and date with the other versions of the game, and includes all of the same content to boot. This includes translations for French, German, and Spanish dialogue on release date.
