Sony has now officially announced its Black Friday discounts for PlayStation Plus subscriptions, with 25 percent off each of the program’s three tiers. In an interview with DualShockers, Quantic Dream founder David Cage revealed that the developer intends to release multiplatform games in the future and become a ‘boutique publisher’. Quantic Dream released Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls on the Epic Games store, and Detroit: Become Human will join them soon. These titles were exclusive to PlayStation, but Quantic Dream was never a first-party studio. Its partnership with NetEase would allow the developer to ‘expand our creative vision and develop the company to its fullest potential’, and multiplatform releases appear to be on this agenda....

Ubisoft has announced that its tactical first-person shooter, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, will be getting a free play weekend from August 24-27 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game will also be available for purchase with up to 50% off throughout the weekend. If players choose to buy the game at any point over the course of the free play period, all of their progress including achievements and trophies will carry over into the full game....

Ubisoft has released a new world trailer for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, giving us a bit of insight into the series’ new sci-fi leanings. You’ll be squad up in groups of three or going solo, picking one from 18 potential Rainbow Six Operators. Few things satisfy me as much as the sound of Master Chief’s boots pounding into the ground, and it seems I’m not the only one who thinks so, as developer 343 Industries has partnered with American footwear manufacturer Wolverine to create a pair of real-life Spartan boots. Like other such collaborations, this one doesn’t come cheap - you’ll need $225 (£170) even before you factor in shipping and customs charges - and just to make them even more sought-after, only 117 pairs will be made and sold, so expect a scrum on launch day....

Rebellion, best known for the testicle hunting simulator Sniper Elite series, has announced a new entry in their Zombie Army spin-off series. Zombie Army 4 seems to shake up the formula. The cinematic trailer suggests that the latest entry will ditch the Sniper Elite loadout system in favor of a class-based one. Microsoft’s online store briefly updated over the weekend to list a bunch of pre-order bonuses for Red Dead Redemption 2. The goodies were quickly removed from the site, although inevitably someone on Reddit was able to snap them before they were taken down. Anyway, the full list includes a War Horse, The Outlaw Survival Kit, Cash Bonus for Red Dead Redemption 2’s Story Mode, and a whopping GTA$500,000 to splash out on anything you want in Grand Theft Auto Online....

Modders working to explore the Resident Evil 3 remake’s demo have discovered out-of-bounds areas from the main game. The newly released demo presents a nice chunk of Raccoon City for players to explore. Using a simple mod to clip through walls, though, reveals even more settings from the full game. This discovery was posted on YouTube by FluffyQuack. In a short video, areas including a gas station, some scaffolding, and additional side streets can be seen clearly....

The Monkey Island franchise is set to make a surprise return this year with the reveal of a new entry. Devolver Digital just announced Return to Monkey Island, a follow-up to the older games in the pirate-themed adventure franchise such as The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. The teaser trailer for Return to Monkey Island doesn’t give away any story details. However, it does reveal that Terrible Toybox, the developer behind Thimbleweed Park, is working on the game alongside Lucasfilm Games and Devolver Digital....

Well known for his roles in Team Fortress 2, Star Fox 64, and Age of Empires II, actor, director, and teacher Rick May sadly passed away on April 13. Before he began voice acting in video games, May was a prolific and successful theatrical actor and director.
