Ubisoft has officially revealed the newest season for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Before the Grand Finals of the Rainbow Six Berlin Major, the developer hosted a segment breaking down the newest operator, who was revealed a few days ago, while also sharing what changes Operation Brutal Swarm will bring to the tactical shooter. The newest operator hails from Singapore and goes by the name “Grim.” He also has a soft spot for bees, at least mechanical ones....

Today, Double Damage Games announced the official release date for Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, a prequel to 2015’s Rebel Galaxy. The game will release on August 13 on the Epic Games Store, where it’s currently available for pre-purchase. One of the most notable features of Outlaw is the addition of 3D space combat, a major change from the original game. Flight segments, meanwhile, will feature a first-person cockpit view as well as a third-person chase cam....

Some Red Dead Online players are being restricted from accessing poker in the game due to regional laws. The recent update to Red Dead Online brought some big changes, introducing new story missions, free roam activities, and poker. Unfortunately, many players are barred from playing poker depending on where they are located and the regional laws that apply. Some players initially thought that they were unable to play the game due to a bug....

Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC on November 5, 2019. The Rockstar Games Launcher popped up on the scene two weeks ago, and the developer offered a free download of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas if players installed the dedicated launcher software. Whispers of a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port began to swirl in response to the sudden appearance of a PC launcher, but I’m sure whispers of ‘thanks’ and ‘that’s really generous of you, Rockstar Games’ were mingled in the mix....

Red Dead Redemption 2 will come to Steam on December 5, as announced by Rockstar Games. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that there would be “no downside” to a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port, and theoretically, he was correct. I modded it so it would look like Death Stranding, Tomb Raider, and Zoo Tycoon, and that was a good time. What Rockstar Games didn’t predict was the deluge of technical issues with the PC port....

Redbox, the vending machine rental system for movies and games, appears to be discontinuing the video game part of its service. Redbox has offered video games as part of its instant rental service since 2011, roughly half as long as it has offered movie rentals. Games have been offered for every major console platform, including PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. But it seems the video game rental service isn’t what it used to be, as Redbox has now confirmed that it will no longer be renting games....

A new investigation into emotional abuse at three indie studios brings gaming auteurs into stark relief. People Make Games has released a new video on the studios Mountains, Fullbright, and Funomena, each led by a so-called “indie superstar”. Interviews with staff past and present has reported emotional abuse suffered under each of their leaderships. All three studios have had games published by Annapurna Interactive, who it is claimed have been unable to deal with complaints appropriately....

The latest sales figures show that 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake has shipped over 5m units globally. Capcom has lauded the remake’s ongoing growth, citing a “digital promotion strategy that incorporated ongoing pricing measures and a focus on sales of the PC version” as the key to its success in passing this milestone. These stats follow on from Capcom’s release of Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village’s sales figures....

Nintendo has revealed Paper Mario: The Origami King, a new Paper Mario entry for the Nintendo Switch. But, let’s not get too ahead ourselves here. A whole new Paper Mario game has been announced! Look, we know Payday 2 seems a million years old at this point, but new content is still in the works. Developer Starbreeze Studios initially wound down development on Payday 2 DLC, before it hit financial trouble. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto spoke to Eurogamer at E3 earlier this week, and confirmed Pikmin 4 is still in development. ‘I’ve been told not to share anything about this from PR, but I can tell you it is progressing,’ Nintendo’s chief creative fellow said. While 3DS title Hey! Pikmin will satiate the desires of some fans when it launches on July 28, there are those out there looking for a sequel in the main series....

Obsidian Entertainment has announced that Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will be hitting consoles in 2019, with a Nintendo Switch version also now planned. Speaking in a new update on the console release, the studio, which was recently acquired by Microsoft, revealed that Grip Digital is handling the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of the game. In addition, the console release of Pillars of Eternity II will feature all currently released DLC right out of the box....

Today, Aksys Games officially revealed the North American release date for the highly anticipated sequel to last year’s hit Piofiore: Fated Memories, Piofiore: Episodio 1926. The sequel is set to release exclusively for Nintendo Switch on Sept. 22, 2022, in both Standard and Limited editions. Each first run copy includes six full-color collectible cards featuring the main characters in the game. Video game movies have long had a reputation of being low quality, and in many ways, that reputation started with the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie. Super Mario Bros. was a disaster by all accounts, universally panned by critics and bombing at the box office. GameSpot recently published an interview with the developer for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. They discussed both the inspiration behind the game and PlayerUnknown’s future plans at length. PlayerUnknown revealed to GameSpot that each monthly update will add a new weapon. The developers for Battlegrounds have released a strict update schedule. Daily updates will mostly focus on server performance. Larger weekly updates will fix bugs as well as increase stability and client performance. The largest updates will occur on a monthly basis and add new content to the game....

The Brighton-based Wish Studios, who developed PlayLink games That’s You! and Knowledge is Power, and employed 13 full-time employees, is closing down, the developer has announced. Wish was recently seeking funding, as well as a publisher for a new project, but was sadly unsuccessful in finding either. In a statement issued earlier today, CEO Caspar Field said, ‘our ethos was to put the team and their creativity at the heart of everything we did; having to say goodbye to those people has been an unbelievably difficult thing to do....

High-profile mod maker Lance McDonald has released footage of what looks to be a working PlayStation 5 exploit that leaves the console “jailbroken”. McDonald’s video appears to show custom code being read by a PS5 through an exploit in its online User Guide. Once run, the console is able to access debug settings and then install the infamous PT demo - which is, of course, no longer available under normal circumstances....
