Frontier Developments’ animal management sim Planet Zoo is ushering in emus, armadillos, and more as part of its new Grasslands Animal Pack DLC on 13th December. The Grasslands Animal Pack is Planet Zoo’s fourth paid expansion this year, and its 12th expansion since releasing in 2019. It introduces eight new exhibit creatures with a loose theme of “steppes, plains and prairies”, alongside a new Career Mode scenario. On the animal front, Grasslands purchasers will gain access to the nine-banded armadillo, the maned wolf, the emu, the caracal, the red-necked wallaby, the striped hyena, and the blue wildebeest....

There were sad faces all round when Microsoft announced Scalebound, its highly anticipated monster-bothering collaboration with Bayonetta developer PlatinumGames, had been cancelled, leaving fans of the studio to ponder what might have been if events had transpired differently. And it seems Platinum itself is still eager to see the project reach fruition, now saying it “wants to discuss [its resurrection] with Microsoft properly”. Scalebound first surfaced during Microsoft’s E3 showcase back in 2014, promising to transport players to a hostile world where - in the role of a cocky teen with a massive sword - they’d take on enormous creatures, with a little help from their dragon pal....

EA is reportedly so excited about their press conference this year, and so keen to “celebrate the global gaming community” that it has chosen to donate $1 million (that’s US dollars) to five different charities in a initiative called Play to Give. The charities, which EA feels are “fostering a better world”, are Code.org, Code2040, HeForShe, the National Centrer for Women and Information Technology, and Special Effect. Starting today you can also find some challenges that tie into this in some of EA’s more famous titles: Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, FIFA, and Madden will all have them....

Pokémon GO’s Lunar New Year event is supposed to be all about good luck, but it doesn’t sound as if Niantic has given players the chance to get much of it. Pokémon GO is celebrating the Lunar New Year in a number of ways via a special event that launched last Friday. The event includes a number of different features and bonuses such as red Pokémon appearing more often, Minccino arriving in Pokémon GO via a Limited Research event, and other rat-like Pokémon appearing more often since the New Year marks the start of the Year of the Rat....

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is now just weeks away, and we’ve got our best look at the game yet in a new extended gameplay trailer. Pokemon GO trainers trying to hatch a certain Pokemon during the holiday season may be in for some bad news. With the newest update, Niantic has mixed up the pool of Pokemon that can be obtained through eggs which has dropped many different species from previous generations. In-game, trainers can obtain four types of Pokemon eggs: 2 km, 5 km, 7 km, and 10 km. All of these eggs can be hatched by using an incubator and walking the required distance, with rarer Pokemon corresponding to increased distance....

A range of unannounced content for Warner Bros’ upcoming toys-to-life game LEGO Dimensions appears to have been outed by US retailer Walmart. As spotted by Brick Inquirer, Team Packs featuring characters from Jurassic World and Scooby Doo were discovered on the retailer’s website over the weekend, alongside Level Packs from The Simpsons and Portal. Yes, that Portal. Three further Fun Packs featuring characters from LEGO Chima were also found. The listings have since been removed but can target=”_blank”>still be found in Google Cache....

An HD remake of the original Postal is heading to PS4 and PC later this year, developer Running With Scissors has announced. Titled ‘Portal Redux’, the new version of the controversial shooter features the original game reworked for modern-day platforms, complete with updated visuals and brand new content, including a new single-player Rampage Mode that challenges players to beat their high score by killing as many people as possible. Jesse wants God to grant him an audience to answer some questions, and has since the first season. Tulip and Cas kidnap Humperdoo to try to get God’s attention so they can make God suffer as much as He’s made them suffer. Starr wants God to make him beautiful again, Jesus wants to take his rightful place as the Messiah, and Hitler’s just trying to manipulate the situation as much as possible, but it all seems to focus on God’s presence in the world and either thwarting or bringing about his plan to end the world....

The PS4 exclusive Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Beta has been extended by 24 hours to give players extra time to try out the new content, Infinity Ward has announced. The beta will now end at 6pm BST on October 18. “We saw massive numbers of people piling into the beta on day 2 and a lot of excitement when we added a new map, Precinct, and another mode, Kill Confirmed,” wrote Infinity Ward in a letter to fans....

Qualcomm president Cristiano Amon reckons PlayStation 5 and the new Xbox will signal the end of traditional video game consoles. Amon’s view echoes what a lot of people are thinking, in the sense that Cloud-based gaming is going to be the way of the future. ‘There’s no question – in our view – that the cloud is the new console,’ Amon said (via GameRant). ‘You are just gonna start playing on any device, on any screen....

It’s come to light that battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has quietly changed its name to the slightly-easier-to-type PUBG: Battlegrounds. The change was first spotted by PC Gamer, noting that the change apparently happened in July when the game’s new name appeared on Steam. Subsequent press releases have since referred to the game with the new title, and upon reaching out publisher Krafton gave a PR statement to PC Gamer....

It seems that seasonal content is all the rage these days, and Halloween 2020 is sizing up to be particularly crowded in the gaming market. Today, a substantial bit of information leaked for the Rainbow Six Siege Halloween event. We learned the name of the event along with info on a new map and the limited-time mode to go with it. There should be an official reveal coming tomorrow on October 22....

Re:Legend will leave early access on September 6. As part of the RPG farming sim‘s version 1.0 launch, developer Magnus Games Studio has a huge update planned. This update for Re:Legend will overhaul several key gameplay features and add a ton of new content for players to try out. A recent developer blog on Steam revealed the specifics of the update. Version 1.0 will introduce two new biomes, a completed story and narrative, 58 new Magnus to tame, over 100 new pieces of equipment to acquire, new fish, and a new NPC....

Retro-inspired RPG Sea of Stars has been delayed into 2023. It’s from Sabotage, the team behind ninja-platformer The Messenger, and features some truly stunning pixel art. Sabotage was aiming for a 2022 release, but a new statement on Twitter reveals that’s been pushed back to 2023. This week marks 20 years since the launch of the original Rez on the Sega Dreamcast, and creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi has marked the occasion with a new retrospective video. Though the game’s original development studio—Sega’s United Games Artists—no longer exists, Mizuguchi’s current studio, Enhance Inc is behind the video. They reunited Tetsuya virtually with many of his former colleagues, as well as journalists and fans to talk about the 2001 game and its legacy....

Developer Ludeon Studios’ widely acclaimed sci-fi colony sim RimWorld has had its Refused Classification status rescinded in Australia following a successful appeal, meaning its effective ban in the region has been overturned. The notoriously sensitive Australian Classification Board initially refused to grant RimWorld a rating in March after its publisher Double Eleven Limited submitted the game for an upcoming “multi platform” launch, prohibiting it from release and effectively banning it from sale....

World of Warcraft players can now embrace Rise of Azshara, one of the largest content updates for the game yet. The update brings two new areas, a new raid mode, and a new pet battle dungeon. Players can also collect new gear and armor, presumably to assist in the eventual raid against Queen Azshara. The update arrives just before the release of PvP Season 3, which will launch on July 9 alongside the new Mythic Keystone Dungeon....
