Last week, Red Dead Online received one of its biggest updates so far in the form of Frontier Pursuits, which introduced brand new specialist roles, the Outlaw Pass, and a range of small changes like the ability to edit the appearance of any online character. Now, the next big addition to RDR2’s online component comes in the form of a limited-time event called, Legendary Bounties. Similar to Hitman 2’s Elusive Targets, Red Dead Online’s Legendary Bounties are a new limited-time event that takes place in the world for one week, challenging players with hunting down some of the most dangerous bounty targets across the five states....

If the previous game is any indication, then Red Solstice 2: Survivors probably won’t spend too much time on exposition, despite its rather complicated backstory. Even a gameplay preview presentation headed by developer Ironward’s CEO Hrvoje Horvatek spent little time talking about the sci-fi world, preferring instead to get straight into the action, which includes both real-time strategy elements and time-based resource management. But for background’s sake, the short version is that Earth has been rendered uninhabitable, forcing everyone to live on Mars, which is still generally inhospitable due to botched terraforming efforts....

Fans who pre-order a digital Xbox One copy of Resident Evil 0 will receive two bonus outfits for Rebecca Chambers and one additional costume for Billy Coen, the Xbox Store has revealed. The £15.99 pre-order bundle includes both a “pre-order bonus Rebecca T-shirt”, featuring an image of the game’s logo layered over the face of a female zombie (below), and the “Resident Evil 0 Costume Pack 1”, which features Rebecca’s cheerleader outfit from Nintendo DS game Resident Evil: Deadly Silence and a Wolf Force crossover costume for Billy (above)....

Originally released in 2005 as a GameCube exclusive (for a time), Resident Evil 4 was a pivotal release for the series. The objective here was to replace the slow and clunky survival horror of its predecessors with something a little more dynamic, and dang did Capcom deliver. Resident Evil 4 for Nintendo Switch is yet another port of the game that revolutionized Resident Evil action without losing sight of its horror roots....

The Initiative, a first-party Xbox game studio, has recruited former Respawn, BioWare and Naughty Dog developers to its rapidly growing team (via Video Games Chronicle). Senior Apex Legends designer Sean Slayback and BioWare lead animator Ryan Duffin have been hired, according to LinkedIn updates. Joining them are artists Ryan Trowbridge and Justin Walters, who worked on Uncharted 4 and 2016’s Doom respectively. The studio has quite the line-up of talented developers....

The 3D platformer is not the genre it used to be. Though it once dominated the industry, it’s obviously not a focal point for most anymore. When 3D platformers do get released, though, they’re usually in the mold of games from the late ’90s, meant to echo a bygone era. Ricky Runner definitely tries to do something different. But can a focus on parkour make for a stronger-than-average entry into the genre?...

Powerful, well-built, and off-road capable, the Rivian R1T pickup is already making a name for itself in the light-duty EV truck market. Rivian’s engineers built it on the company’s R1 skateboard platform, and it shares 91% of its components with its sister vehicle, the Rivian R1S EV SUV. Seating 5 people, the R1T beats many gasoline sports cars with its potent electric-motor acceleration. It also offers good acceleration for a pickup....

We don’t have some sort of Best Games of 2021 awards in PC Invasion (at least in terms of a site-wide consensus). Each writer, however, can list down the titles that they truly enjoyed in a given year. As such, here are my personal faves for 2021. I’ve arranged them in chronological order based on their release dates. Granted, most of my picks are the games that I’ve reviewed. Still, a select few went ahead of the pack after I decided to write guides for them....

Kinetic Games - the indie team behind massive ghost hunting sim Phasmophobia - has been accused of “housing a sex pest” on its official Discord server. In a series of messages shared on Twitter, Dandy @ 6.2 – who clarifies that they are “not a victim in this” but is “speaking out for a friend who IS a victim who otherwise felt like she had no voice” – posts a number of incriminating messages that intimate that despite reporting him, the alleged “sex pest” known as Charcoal Salamander had yet to be stripped of his “admin” role on the server....

Exosuit is just power armor minus the “armor” part. And Pearl Abyss just announced its new MMO based on the suits, called Plan 8. Appearing in the South Korean (I probably didn’t need to qualify, the North isn’t really into gaming) G-Star gaming expo, Pearl Abyss, the developer of the famous Black Desert Online MMO, showed off a teaser trailer for Plan 8, an “exosuit MMO shooter.” Minh “Gooseman” Le, one of the original Counter-Strike creators, will join the project....

PlatinumGames is moving into self-publishing, which involves reviving some of its old games on new platforms, but there are issues with bringing back the canceled Scalebound project, as Microsoft Studios has total ownership over the IP. PlatinumGames has developed games for different companies over the years, but it doesn’t have complete ownership over any of its franchises. Bayonetta, Nier: Automata and The Wonderful 101 are all owned by companies other than PlatinumGames....

Sony’s PlayStation Stars customer reward program is now live in the UK, following its earlier launches in both Asia and America. Details of its rewards are now live on PlayStation’s UK site, and mirror those available elsewhere. This includes the fact some users will “randomly” be placed in a queue for up to two months upon applying to the scheme in order to manage demand. It also includes a perk which will give you “priority” when contacting PlayStation’s customer support chat....

Earlier this week, Gamertag Radio podcast host Danny Peña announced he’s creating a children’s book all about the love of video games. Titled Danny Loves Video Games, the book is set to release in Fall 2022 and is based on the author’s experiences and love of gaming growing up. The news was announced during an exclusive interview with NBC LX, where Peña talks about founding the podcast, as well as his experience with gaming in his youth....

Much of Netflix’s Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo-starring actioner, Point Blank, is reliably conventional. The concept of a mismatched pair of killer and non-killer is so pervasive in cinema that another one of its kind is already in theaters right now (the Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista-starring Stuber). Mackie’s nurse Paul and Grillo’s hardened criminal Abe go from fear to hatred to begrudging respect to bro-dom just as one would expect....

Mega Scizor is the Mega Evolution of Scizor, the Gen 2 Pokémon that makes its debut in Pokémon Go as part of the the Bug Out! event in August 2022. It’s a strange type combination of bug and steel, which opens up a lot of move possibilities in Pokémon Go. It is great for battling grass types, and its steel moves can really pack a punch against ice and rock types....

Pokemon Sword and Shield are out now, and so far, the games have received positive reviews from several critics; however, players haven’t been as happy as the critics, and both games are being review bombed on Metacritic by users. Nintendo, on the other hand, is celebrating Pokemon Sword and Shield’s launch by giving Pokemon GO fans an opportunity to catch a Galarian Pokemon. Galar is the new Pokemon region in Sword and Shield, and several old Pokemon have new Galarian forms in the new region....

The world’s number one Pokémon GO player has had his account suspending for violating the game’s terms of service by selling Mewtwos. As of August of this year, Brandon Tan had 600 million XP, caught 450,000 Pokémon, visited 430,000 Pokéstops all over the world, participated in 12,100 raids, and consumed 180,000 berries. Those are some ludicrous statistics, even for the most dedicated of Pokémon GO players. How’d he do it? Well, to start, Brandon is a full-time gamer who streams his adventures on Twitch and posts videos to YouTube....

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the ARPG Last Epoch from Eleventh Hour Games and it’s been shaping up rather nicely. Today they have launched their Kickstarter campaign and are looking for a reasonable £146,485 to push development forward ahead of a planned beta test in 2019. Prior to the Kickstarter launch today, the team has been releasing updated alpha builds for gamers to test and a new demo has just been released taking players through a portion of the game with three classes....
