Ubisoft Montreal has announced that upcoming co-op shooter Rainbow Six: Quarantine will now be known going forward as Rainbow Six: Extraction. A pair of brief videos and social media posts announced the new name changed, a move first reported back in February which at the time thought the game would be redubbed Parasite, but this name was later rebuffed by Ubisoft until they settled on what we have now. Despite the name change, the team promise a “modern tactical co-op shooter” where you’ll be facing off against an “always evolving alien threat”....

Tactical online shooter Rainbow Six Siege will be free to play on PC and Xbox One this weekend, Ubisoft has announced. The free play time should have already kicked off on Xbox One, with PC following at 6pm BST this evening, although it’ll expire on both next Monday, August 1. To give it a go, you’ll be able to download the game directly through the Uplay app on PC, or through the Xbox Store on Xbox One....

Today Ubisoft revealed the next operation coming to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege titled “Demon Veil” and featuring a Japanese operator. The new operator is Azami from Japan a defender. She is certainly is interesting, as she can use “Kiba barriers” that appear to spawn from her Kunai throwing weapons. Basically, she can place bulletproof barriers anywhere she likes. We also hear of a balancing pass for Gojo, and the fact that all 1x optics are becoming universal....

A new trailer for futuristic racing sequel Redout 2 has detailed its gameplay. The follow up to the 2016 original, Redout 2 offers high speed thrills akin to F-Zero and WipEout with anti-gravity ships and looping courses. This sequel offers double the locations (now 10) and reversed courses, for a total of 72 unique tracks. The game will have the option for AI assisted controls, meaning players can tweak the sensitivity of acceleration, braking, steering, strafing and pitching....

Capcom has admitted that getting the massive alligator boss fight to work in Resident Evil 2 caused its fair share of headaches for the team. Speaking during an interview with The Daily Star, Resi 2 producers Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Tsuyoshi Kanda admitted that the whole sequence proved at odds with the remake’s darker tone, and is all just a bit, well, silly. The team even thought about scrapping the ‘gator fight at one point, but ultimately saw it through....

During today’s Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom revealed the mildly leaked Resident Evil Re:Verse, a free online game coming free alongside Village. Details on the game are rather scarce at time of writing, however. Capcom has promised more information in the near future, so for now we’re going to have to go with what we saw in the teaser. The most important takeaway for Re:Verse is that it is not Resident Evil Resistance....

It was only a matter of time until Capcom decided to follow-up on the brilliant Resident Evil 7 with a new mainline entry in the franchise, but we were still stunned when we saw the debut trailer for Resident Evil Village. After six years of development and a successful Kickstarter back in 2014, Skymap Games has announced a release date for Bacon Man: An Adventure. Bacon Man takes inspiration from classic platformers such as Rayman, Mega Man X, and Earthworm Jim. As Bacon Man, players will have to fight the food groups and clear his name after being accused of murdering his grandfather Old King Roast Beef. It’s been a long time coming but Bacon Man will release on 6 March 2018 and the Steam page is available now....

UPDATE: The project’s cancellation has now been confirmed by Slightly Mad Studios’ creative director Andy Tudor. “Despite much perseverance on the Wii U version of Project CARS we will no longer be actively pursuing development on it as the quality does not meet our own high standards nor our intended vision for the title on this platform,” explained Tudor. “We eagerly look forward to any announcement of further hardware from Nintendo but right now Project CARS is simply too much for Wii U despite our very best efforts....
