PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console sales are 44% higher than PS3 and Xbox 360 sales were at the same point in their lifecycle, EA COO Peter Moore has revealed. Moore discussed the figure during the publisher’s Q1 earnings call last night, explaining that software sales too are slightly higher than they were during the last generation. “We’re now 20 months in and if we go like-for-like on the previous generation, we’re up 44% installed base hardware versus where we were Xbox 360, PS3, et al,” he said....

A new test build of PUBG has been released ahead of the full 1.0 release next week. This update adds a Replays Menu which allows players to record up to 1km around their character. Once the game finishes the reply is saved and be played back from the Replay menu. A total of 20 of these replays can be saved. This update also brings some tweaks and changes such as a reduced Blue zone on Miramar, new keybindings, and bugs fixes....

Bluehole has detailed the next major update for its chicken dinner-loving shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, with a Training Mode option now available alongside some other goodies. The quality assurance team at Raven Software, one of Activision’s subsidiaries, has formed the very first video game labor union at a major US corporation, which goes by the name Game Workers Alliance. This union aims to have Activision Blizzard’s leadership recognize it without attempting to break it up or retaliate against it....

Resident Evil 3 Remake’s Nemesis will be cleverer and craftier than Resident Evil 2’s Mr. X, because Capcom has improved the artificial intelligence that was used in the Resident Evil 2 Remake (via PlayStation Magazine). In an interview with PlayStation Magazine, producer Peter Fabiano shed a little light on what’s in store for the remake, which is currently “about 90%” done. Capcom was conscious that the original game was especially action-oriented, and so there have been a few new implementations....

Respawn has a new singleplayer FPS set in the Apex Legends universe in early development. Known only as “Apex Universe FPS Incubation Title”, the game is clearly in the very early stages, but already the team is looking to bring a host of new developers on to what seems to be a singleplayer shooter that will be a “brand new Respawn single-player adventure”. Respawn’s careers page, first noticed by Dextero, is currently hiring for numerous projects, including Apex Legends, its Mobile equivalent, the upcoming Star Wars FPS, and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Fallen Order’s recently announced sequel....

Over the last few weeks I’ve been gaming with a pair of new controllers for the Xbox 360 and the PS3, made by Performance Designed Products. Called Afterglow controllers, they are made of a transparent plastic with an interior that sports a number of LEDs, providing its namesake glow. At first glance I thought they looked cool, but was worried that the glow would turn out to be a distracting gimmick as the selling point for an inferior product....

Gran Turismo 7 will be dropping new in-game items in collaboration with French luxury fashion house Dior. The collaboration was announced on 30th July at the World Series Showdown, a global online tournament for the Gran Turismo series. The items were specially designed by Kim Jones, British fashion designer and Artistic Director of men’s collections at Dior, for inclusion in the game. This marks the first time Dior has ventured into a “virtual space”....

League of Legends publisher Riot Games has been hit by a lawsuit from one current and one former employee, accusing the company of ’endemic gender-based discrimination’ as well as fostering a ‘men-first environment.’ The accusations follow on the heels of an extensive report by Kotaku, which shed light on 28 current and former employees who spoke of Riot Games’ ‘bro culture’ that ‘in some instances, rewards behaviour that disadvantages women.’...

Riot Games has officially confirmed that Sunil Malhotra is the voice behind Valorant’s latest Agent, Harbor. Many had already suspected this to be the case due to his previous relationship working with Riot Games voicing League of Legends character Akshan, and now those suspicions have been proven correct.
