While the attack itself was certainly an annoying time, and dangerous for those with personal information on their accounts, for gamers - the reaction on Sony’s part may be more widely remembered. Lack of responses, active aggression against the hackers, and other moments have painted Sony as incompetent in some player’s eyes. However, those affected by the attack may be happy to hear that some of the supposed hackers may have been apprehended....

The founders of defunct Microsoft studio Press Play have opened a new development studio, Lightbulb Games. The Copenhagen-based studio describes itself as a “small startup… with big ambitions”, with its first game set to be a vehicle-creation game called Pioneers. “Our vision is to create games we and someday our children will be proud of!” says Lightbulb. “We create games that you play with – not just play. Games that give players unrestricted tools and environments to create their versions of fun....

Quake Champions, whilst it’s technically not properly out yet, is getting a free trial available all this week. And, if you download it this week, it’ll stay free for you even after the trial ends. This is slightly confusing, because this is a free trial of Quake Champions’ free-to-play option, but let’s go with it. Quake is also continuing to push the esports angle, with confirmation that the game will be getting esports events at QuakeCon and Dreamhack Winter this year....

Quantum Break is coming to Windows 10 day and date with the Xbox One version on April 5, Remedy and Microsoft have announced. Not only is the game heading to Windows 10, but you’ll get it free if you pre-order the Xbox One digital version via Xbox Store, Xbox.com, participating retailers, or pick up an Xbox One Special Edition Quantum Break bundle. Microsoft has also confirmed that Quantum Break will support shared saves between the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions....

Rage 2’s official social media accounts have announced the open-world post-apocalyptic shooter is to get a huge update on July 25 that will, for one, add three new modes to the game. The tweet, which we’ve embedded below, reveals the update will add New Game+, an Ironman Mode and an Ultra Nightmare difficulty. On top of that is promised an added flashlight and the ability to skip Ark Tutorials as well as a bunch of fixes and tweaks....

Bethesda is giving away a Sega Dreamcast that can play Rage 2. You read that correctly. In a tweet, the official Rage 2 account revealed the contest. All players have to do is follow the account and retweet the contest itself and they’ll be given the chance to win a custom PC designed to look exactly like Sega’s final console. The unit is priced at around $590 USD, but you won’t be able to just pick this up at your local store....

THQ Nordic has announced that Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered is heading to Nintendo Switch this year.
