The designs for the titular Nemesis, the big bad of Resident Evil 3, have inspired some hilarious posts from fans on Reddit, Twitter, and elsewhere online. The cover art design leaked online yesterday and all three images show Nemesis, with one image showing the new versions of Jill and Carlos, the playable characters. The latest Resident Evil 3 remake leaks make it seem like Capcom is doing another game in the new RE engine, with art reminiscent of this year’s Resident Evil 2 remake....

Atlus has published a new report on the commercial success of its Persona series, and Persona 5 Royal has sold approximately 400,000 copies since its launch in October (via Siliconera). Pro Evolution Soccer is charting a new course for 2020, and PES 2021 will be a smaller-scale and standalone title, with PES 2022 in development for the next generation of hardware. “The sheer scale of everything we are aiming to achieve for our next-gen debut has made it necessary to pare back our efforts in other areas of development,” explained Konami in a post to its official website. During his annual E3 interview with Giant Bomb, Xbox head Phil Spencer said there’s no final name for the next Xbox, yet. At the end of Xbox’s E3 showcase, there was a talking heads video that confirmed the codename Project Scarlett for the next Xbox, but Spencer said that’s all the team has at the minute. ‘You ask me — you won’t — but what is the name? I honestly don’t know what the name is… We don’t even have a list of names....

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the Halo franchise, insisting that the series remains “critically important to what Xbox is doing”. In an interview with IGN, Spencer stressed that the series will “always be iconic for Xbox” despite the “missteps that [they] made as a team”. “What we’re doing now is we want to make sure that leadership team is set up with the flexibility to build the plan that they need to go build,” Spencer explained....

Bayonetta series and Nier: Automata developer PlatinumGames announced Tuesday that it would be partnering up with Chinese gaming conglomerate Tencent in an investment deal. The Japanese studio, known for its work on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and other cult favorite action titles like Vanquish, will remain an independent developer but will look into self-publishing their titles as a result of the deal, according to president Kenichi Sato. Fans hoping for less platform exclusive projects from Platinum may find a move toward self-publishing welcome for the studio....

The third episode of PlayStation’s State of Play is airing Tuesday, September 24th and will bring with it a host of new information regarding upcoming releases and other updates. The first State of Play, which aired March 25th, 2019, revealed Iron Man VR for PS VR, while the second State of Play saw the announcement of Predator: Hunting Grounds. The Pokemon Company has revealed that Nintendo Switch exclusives Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee have sold over three million copies in their first week on sale. According to a translation of the Tweet (via Gematsu), this means both games have set a new record for Switch in terms of launch week sales. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the long run, and whether or not it can supplant Super Mario Odyssey as the best-selling game on the console....
