When Warcraft 3 Reforged, a remastered version of the 2002 game Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos, released last year, fans and critics alike were displeased with the final product. The game received criticism for its inferior UI and online features compared to those of the original. Its lack of promised features and aesthetic updates became an issue as well. This morning, renowned Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier put out a report that may potentially shed some light on why the game turned out the way it did....

Resident Evil’s movie reboot has signed up Johannes Roberts as its director and writer, Variety has confirmed. Constantin Films has hired the 47 Meters Down director to helm the upcoming horror flick, which is expected to enter production next year with a fresh cast. The previous films starred Milla Jovovich and grossed over one billion dollars worldwide, though critically they took quite a battering. No details exist yet regarding what direction the Resi reboot will take, although it has previously been suggested it will take a leaf out of Resident Evil 7’s book....

Capcom has announced a slight change to its schedule for the upcoming Resident Evil Village multi-format demo, following feedback from fans on the recent PlayStation-exclusive ones. A tweet from the game’s official Twitter accoun reads: “We’ve heard your feedback and are extending the availability period for the final 60 minutes multi-platform RE Village demo.” As a result, the demo will now be available from May 2 at 1am UK time all the way through past the game’s launch date until May 10 at 1am UK time....

It’s a great time to be alive if you’re an aspiring game developer who can rope in some pixel artist friends to help you. The art style is half of what got me to try out Resolutiion. I though it would be one of those indie hits that I usually dismiss due to gameplay not being my cup of tea. The latest trailer for upcoming shooter Returnal has landed, giving us a closer look at some of the foes we’ll be going up against on the hostile planet of Atropos. An accompanying post on the PlayStation blog gives us a few more details on some of these creatures which were inspired by, among other things, deep sea creatures complete with tentacles and bioluminescent emissives which the latter, developer Housemarque say, also help to provide “satisfying hit reactions” when enemies are shot and provide feedback to the player....

Workers at Riot Games are threatening a walkout after the company forced several former employees into arbitration over their claims of a toxic work environment. Riot just can’t seem to catch a break. After last summer’s big reveal of Riot’s toxic and discriminatory work culture by an investigative report from Kotaku, the company is still having trouble sending the right message to their remaining staff. Last Friday, Riot filed a motion to force two former employees into forced arbitration over their legal claims of gender discrimination and a hostile work environment....

Valorant developer Riot Games has been forced to clarify that its popular character Killjoy does not enjoy collecting NFTs. “Whoopsie!” Riot wrote in an unusual statement published to Valorant’s official German Twitter account last night (thanks, PC Gamer). The climbdown came after an illustration posted to the account showed Killjoy in an art gallery, gazing at a picture by German artist and NFT seller Martin Houra. The artwork in question is an NFT, and Houra has previously put it up for sale using the planet burning cryptocurrency Ethereum....

The dust hasn’t even settled from today’s launch of River City Girls and publisher Arc System Works is already looking to the future. Announced earlier today, Stay Cool, Kobayashi-san!: A River City Ransom Story will be heading to PC (via Steam), PS4, Xbox One, and Switch later this year. Not directly related to Girls, this spin-off will feature series protagonist Kunio’s long-time rival Kobayashi as the main character. This is like one of those typical direct-to-DVD sequels where a classic film gets played out from a different perspective....

Overwatch 2 launches next month, and Blizzard has now revealed the final new hero coming to the game, as well as a brand new map. Both Kiriko and the brand new map Esperanca, Portugal will be available when the game launches on October 4, and in a group interview Video Gamer attended, we got to find out a little more about both. Overwatch is introducing the new “2-2-2” role requirement system starting August 13 with a short “Beta Season.” The controversial new role queue, which requires all teams to have two tank characters, two DPS, and two supports, is guaranteed to shake-up Overwatch’s meta. Players have been able to watch the 2-2-2 system at work in the Overwatch League’s Stage 4 Season and, needless to say, it’s making some fans anxious about the change....

This month at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Alter Games will show its upcoming title, Partisans 1941. The Russia-based studio will also host a playable demo for Gamescom attendees. Persona 5 will launch in the UK and Europe on February 14 – the same day as the game hits the US, publisher Deep Silver has confirmed. Fans had feared the worst for the EU edition after the US date was announced back in June with no mention of Europe. Thankfully there will be no painful wait for fans. The European release will be much the same as the US version, offering only English voice and text options, so no other European languages or the original Japanese....

Once you beat him, you will be allowed to start any requests from the main menu. The best of such requests in the game are given by Lavenza. As she is replacing her boss Igor from previous games, to run the Velvet Room alone. Lavenza will ask you to beat stronger versions of the bosses you defeated earlier....

Today, during the celebrations of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, All In! Games announced Phantom Hellcat. The game is developed by All In! Games’ internal development studio Ironbird Games, and it’s defined as a “dynamic perspective changing action adventure.” It’ll release down the line for PC via Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. A raft of Telltale Games titles have been added to PlayStation Now in Europe, seeing the service pass the 200 game milestone. PlayStation Now launched in Europe on October 9, 2015 with 100 titles.
