Valve head honcho Gabe Newell has confirmed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the third best-selling video game of all time on Steam, despite only seeing a full release in December last year. Newell reportedly revealed the figure during a presentation this weekend (via IGN), where he was quoted: ‘You can have a relatively new game like PUBG, and […] they can capitalize on all the other multiplayer games, and all of the technology, [and] the fact that China is now a huge market for anybody who does PC game development....

PUBG has just released patch notes for the battle royale’s 5.2 update, which is already live on the test servers. The notes are long and not everything in them is particularly interesting. But there are a few welcome improvements and a Spike Trap, which could make for some highly entertaining gameplay. Bethesda has announced Quake Champions, a new game in the classic shooter franchise heading to PC. The multiplayer-only game is said to have been designed for eSports, although it isn’t yet clear whether it will be a premium release or free-to-play title. It’s currently in development at id Software in conjunction with Saber Interactive. “The fast, skill-based arena-style competition that turned the original Quake games into multiplayer legends is making a triumphant return with Quake Champions,” said Bethesda....

Real Racing 3 will be one of the first games to take advantage of the 4″ Retina display and increased graphical capabilities, EA and developer Firemonkeys have announced. Rockstar Games has revealed that it is working on a fix for a notorious Red Dead Redemption 2 bug that causes members of your gang to mysteriously disappear from camp. Players have been reporting over the past week or so that a number of Arthur Morgan’s pals, such as Sadie Alder and John Marston, have vanished during Red Dead 2’s second chapter. However, Rockstar’s now identified the problem and is working to iron out the issue....

It might be easy to dismiss Gunfire Games’ Remnant from the Ashes as simply “Dark Souls with guns,” but there is a lot more to the game than players might realize. The studio behind Darksiders 3 has found a way to take the formula of a Dark Souls game but spin it with unique lore and third-person shooter mechanics. During today’s Nintendo’s Direct, the Cloud version of Resident Evil Village was confirmed to be launching on the Nintendo Switch on Oct. 28, 2022. A demo of the game is available now on the Nintendo e-shop for those who pre-order the title. The Winters’ expansion DLC will also be up for grabs on Switch this coming Dec. 2, though it’s unclear whether it will be included in the package, or will be an additional purchase....

Developer Housemarque’s moody PlayStation 5-exclusive sci-fi shooter Returnal is returnaling later this month with a big new update for all players. Ascension, as the free update is officially known, got its unveiling as part of tonight’s PlayStation State of Play livestream, but significantly more information has now arrived in a new PlayStation Blog post. The headline, though, is that the update - significant enough to warrant boosting its version number up to 3....
