Sony has invited media to the PlayStation Meeting taking place at 8pm BST on September 7 at the PlayStation Theatre on Times Square, which is expected to be when the PlayStation Neo is announced.

The event – confirmed to be livestreamed – will offer information on the “PlayStation business”. Sony last held a PlayStation Meeting in 2013, at which the PS4 was unveiled.

The new more powerful PlayStation hasn’t been announced by Sony, but its development was confirmed prior to E3. The high end PS4 is expected to offer over 4 TFlops of power, able to deliver improved visuals over the current system.

If the Neo is announced at the event you can expect to see a range of games which make use of the improved hardware, and we’d hope to get info on pricing and release date. Anything late this year or early in 2017 could give Sony another win over Microsoft which is launching the Scorpio in holiday 2017.
