Sony stealth launches a new online PlayStation store, allowing fans to buy PS4 consoles, games and accessories from the company and not through any other retailer. The announcement was not part of the new State of Play stream where Sony also revealed October 2019’s free PlayStation Plus games and a limited edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro and controller bundle.
In a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony says that it has created the online store at PlayStation.com to help gift givers “easily find the right product for their friends or family.” The store lists PS4 consoles, accessories such as PlayStation VR headsets and DualShock 4 controllers, hardware bundles, and there will be some physical games available too. Some of the physical games on offer are Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War 3 Remastered, The Last of Us Remastered, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Some high profile PS4 exclusives such as God of War and The Last of Us: Part 2 are not available.
Sony said that prices on the new PlayStation store, which is now available exclusively in the United States, will offer prices that “align with those found at other retailers.” However, it does have a couple of PS4 bundle deals that can help fans save money ahead of the holiday season. The two bundles are for a PS4 with a 12-month subscription of PS Plus for $339.99 USD (regularly $359.98 USD) and a PS4 Pro with a 12-month subscription of PS Plus for $429.99 USD (regularly $459.98 USD). The deals last until October 31, 2019.
