Pikachu Libre is coming to Pokémon GO, but you’ll come up short if you go looking for the furry luchador in the wild.
There are now more than 900 Pokémon on the franchise’s roster. Catching ’em all has never been so hard, especially in Pokémon GO, as Niantic continues to add more and more of those 900 creatures. They’re not all out in the wild quite yet, but it’s getting there, as Gen V Pokémon are gradually being introduced to the game.
As if that wasn’t enough for trainers to wrap their heads around, even if they do manage to catch one of each Pokémon available to them, their Pokédex still won’t be complete. That’s due to the fact Niantic continues to release alternate versions of pre-existing Pokémon. Whether they be shiny or wearing a party hat, there are plenty to collect.
The Pokémon to have undergone the novelty treatment more than any other thus far in Pokémon GO is Pikachu. He has appeared in Santa’s hat, Halloween costumes, and even Ash Ketchum’s iconic cap. However, the newest outfit for the famous mouse-like Pokémon is our favorite by far: Pikachu Libre, a luchador outfit you can check out below if you are not already familiar with it.
The reason some trainers might already be familiar with the wrestler version of Pikachu is due to the fact the look has appeared in other games. The wrestling tights are an alternate outfit for Pikachu in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokken Tournament, and Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire as a cosplay Pikachu gift. Before players head off into the wild looking for Pikachu Libre, there’s one more thing they’ll need to know.
Luchador Pikachu can’t be found in the wild. Instead, it will be a prize of some sort for competing in GO Battle League Season One. Since Season One begins on February 10, 2020, Pikachu Libre might well be available by the time you read this. Niantic previously revealed Pikachu Libre-inspired player costumes will also be up for grabs via the GO Battle League, so soon enough, you and your Pikachu might be able to wear matching outfits.
