Here’s how and when you can get your hands on this Gigantamax punk rock Pokémon.

A reveal video from Nintendo has provided us with the information that the hugely popular Toxtricity is the next Pokémon to get the G-Max treatment in Pokémon Sword & Shield. Even more exciting, the wait will be a short one as you can start finding Gigantamax Toxtricity in raids as soon as this evening.

When and Where You Can Find Gigantamax Toxtricity

If you can’t wait to catch one of your very own, the window opens Thursday, February 6 at 4:00 p.m. PST. No need to worry if you are busy though since this event will be going on through Sunday, March 8 at 3:59 p.m. PST.

Once the window opens, the first thing you need to do in order to start hunting your own Gigantimax Toxtricity is update your Wild Area where the raids will occur. In order to do that you select the ‘Mystery Gift’ section of your menu and then select ‘Get the Wild Area News’. After that you are free to start your search. You will be looking for raid dens with red or purple beams coming out of them. When you select a den it will show a silhouette of the Pokémon inside. Once you find Gigantamax Toxtricity, you just need to defeat it for your opportunity to catch one. YouTube will likely have several videos of people capturing one by this weekend.

Gigantamax Toxtricity Forms and Abilities

Gigantamax Toxtricity comes in two different forms that depend on which version of the game you own. If you got Pokémon Sword, you will be able to catch the Amped Form. If you purchased Pokémon Shield, the Low Key Form will be what you find instead. The only difference between the two is a minor change in their color and the name of their ability.

Amped Form will receive the ‘Plus’ ability while Low Key Form receives ‘Minus’. Both abilities are the same and boost special attack damage by 50%. Both types will have electric-type moves turn into G-Max Stun Shock. G-Max Stun Shock will damage all enemies and either poison or paralyze them at random.

It is worth noting that the type of Gigantamax Toxtricity you find is tied to whoever hosts the raid. So if you want to get the Low Key Form on Pokémon Sword or the Amped Form on Pokémon Shield all you need to do is find a raid host with the opposite version from you. If you are looking for something even more exclusive then keep your eyes out for the sparkle of the ‘Shiny’ version of either form of Gigantamax Toxtricity which will also be obtainable in the raid. Happy hunting trainers, and don’t forget to vote for Google’s Pokémon of the Year!
